Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta This Year

It's interesting what you find in court documents sometimes. In response to recent legal concerns with the US Department of Justice regarding Vista's bundled desktop search tool. Microsoft has agreed to add the ability for users and OEMs to modify the default search in Vista. The most interesting tidbit is that the change will come in Service Pack 1, which will go into beta testing later this year, and be released mid 2008.
This is the first hint at Service Pack 1 since Vista's release, as Microsoft has been very tight-lipped about the details. With so many people holding off on upgrading to Vista until SP1 arrives, it's a bit of a surprise Microsoft hasn't been more forthcoming with information.

I wish people would stop bashing Vista and look at the fact that it will be here to stay and people will use it and in all honesty it is a very good OS, I myself went out and bought the professional version, I did however keep XP lucky thing too due to the driver woes. Apart from the fact my 6 12month old system needs a bit of an upgrade for a smoother run and driver woes, I cant fault it.

What the heck...a BETA SERVICE PACK!? The whole point is to have everything fixed and stable, my goodness...
There have always been beta service packs since Win 9x.

I'm not planning on upgrading any of my systems now. I've decided the only upgrade route I'll take is via new purchases. I've got 2 servers & 12 XP pro systems at the office as well as the 3 systems at home so it'll be awhile.
