msnupdate!@#@.exe what is this???

I was wondering if anyone knows what this is good or bad, and if being the latter how to get rid of it.
When we sign out of MSN Premium through Verizon, we are now getting a window asking whether we want to allow or cancel this from accessing our computer and not to run it unless we know where it's from or if we use it.
Below it says it is from an "Unidentified publisher"
Here is part of the path: "C:\Users\kim\AppData\Roaming\MSN6\msnupdate!@#@.exe/..."
The rest is: "...C:\ProgramFiles\MSN\MSNCoreFiles..."
This is a new HP with Vista and we have had it for 1 1/2 weeks, this "pop-up" just started this week. I use Norton, (for now!), and have Spyware Blaster, SpyBot S&D, Spy Sweeper, etc. I have run everything I have and nothing is picking it up to remove it. I have Googled it and most results turn up as it is a Worm or Trojan, but no ways to remove it. Plus you have to take note also that most results are without the !@#@.exe. If any one has a clue, I'd love to know if this is safe or malicious...help is greatly appreciated!

This part doesn't look right at all...so I would say no...do not install this.
This part looks ok...but still I would say no. If you want to update anything to do with MSN I wouldn't do it unless you got it right from the MSN site. I've used MSN for years and I've never seen anything like that.

c is the drive it's stored in open it and look for a what i assume is a folder called "users" with subsequent subfolders and delete it,if however the the folder is not apparent as soon as you unhide drive c then look inside the msn folder inside program files and then look in the sub folder msncore files,basicly look for any wording that is in the line you provided "Users\kim\AppData\Roaming\MSN6\msnupdate!@#@.exe/..." .to me the first three words appear to be folders that have been created but i can only guess that is the case
ps: when your subscription runs out with spysweeper use this in it's place it's a free and reguarly updated realtime process scanner
WWW Link you'll find it makes having a 2ndry manual scanner obsolete.
It would be a good idea to look into how to set up standard user accounts for your machine and how to install software as an admin while in standard user mode,it's a lot safer than logging on as admin from the outset.
Finally you should also think about drive imaging you can find out about it here >WWW Link ,in your program list there should be an option to create a recovery cd or dvd set DO IT but make sure you use quality media like HP or VERBATIM and burn at a slow rate say between 4x-8x

Thanks,I will do that, also within a few days of having our HP...we did the dvd backup, over the years I have learned that hard lesson of backing things up.

I ran numerous spyware problems and other virus protection programs to no avail.
I run a e6700 core duo with 4gb ram, ati 2006 Wonder Card (1300 video express), windows vista premium, Nortons (SUCKS) Internet Security 2007
Tonight I guess my brain kicked in and I resolved our dilema
It is not a trojan. Here is what you need to do.
1. Sign on to MSN with the primary account holder email account
2. Click on the help and settings drop down menu then click on "about MSN"
the latest version is now 9.50.0039.1900
if your version is not at least this then proceed as follows:
3. click more information (this is in the about msn drop down also)
4. click on "update MSN now"
This updates designer email and msn explorer
Once you have downloaded and installed the updates it will require you to reboot and then when you first sign into the msn account (I signed in under a secondary member) I had to "allow the update".
I'm not a gamer but elected to join your post in order to help others experiencing a like problem.

Run Trojan Remover to check for trojans
or just Run NOD32 which covers all of this and antivirus
if NOD32 comes back saying you are clean, then you're okay.
