WANTED: AMD Athlon XP 2800+

All - I'm looking for a bargain basement price for an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (SocketA) processor. I've grown tired of the sniping war on eBay trying to snag one at a decent price. I've been to Pricewatch, Chiefvalue, and all the big boys of online computer hardware (and they all want near new, 6 years ago, prices - if they even have one).

I have one Barton 2500+ Socket A Locked multipliers (unfortunately), and that's what I'm using now. Might plan to sell it when AMD launches their new Phenom Quad-core CPUs, but that's Winter...
If you want one now, the only choices are hardware forums with a "Garage Sales" section.
Still, it's more worthwhile to upgrade to Socket 939- CPUs are still available (but scarce), you still get to use your RAM and graphics if you want.

I Personally build PC's and in my best opinion you would be better off going with the AMD Athlon 3200+ X2. Both the performance and reliability are better than what you are looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions all, but I'm looking for someone in the community willing to part with theirs. The 2800+ is the max that my mobo can handle, and I'm not gonna be paying $100+ for a processor that's five years old now

I thought the max was 3200+. I only ask cause I have a 2700+ machine that I wanted to up to a 3200+. I'd probably pay $100 for a 3200+.

frankly trying to find that type of cpu is going to be like finding a needle in a hey stack.even though i hate to say it, but you would be better off just getting a AMD64 ethier a AM2 socket,socket 939 or a socket 754
