A Wireless Mouse... On Your Finger?
Now that's cool

Students at WPI have created a new take on the standard PC mouse with a device they're calling "MagicMouse". The undergraduate student team built a wireless mouse that you wear like a ring, using the natural gestures of your hand to control the cursor on the screen. This little doodad works by using a number of receivers placed around the user that track the motion of the tiny ultrasonic transmitter the user wears on their finger.
The super-cool part about this? It's done with off-the-shelf parts, and currently only costs $155 to put together. Imagine if someone starts manufacturing these for sale in bulk. At volume, the prices would come down significantly. This could be one of the best tools in recent memory for lecturers and presenters who rely heavily on computers for their presentations.

You could just assign that gesture to play the Tada.wav

On the serious side, when will the computer be equiped with, yes the finger mouse but also voice activation and a device to track you eye movement as you look at the screen?
Come to think about it where is the holographic screen, now that would be cool.

Whilst this lil gadget could have some advantages, I see how it could have disastrous consequences for patrons of Playboy and other adult entertainment sites. One would hope these persons do not have certain USB devices connected to their PC's...like the rocket & grenade launchers.
