Submissions penalties
Sunday, April 29, 2007 by Mattcobalta | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I've updated a skin more than one times before validation, and its rating have been lowered to 2 stars.
Another skin was uploaded with bad files, the color tables were different between the image and the progbar, rating lowered to 2 stars before validation.
The skin was not validated, not visible anywhere... except in my Recent Skins page, I guess there are few chances that somebody downrated it.
Is there a link between these facts and the low rating ?

I notice 3 pbs :
- the skin does neither appear in the main Bootskins page, nor in the "Sort By Newest Skins", nor by searching for "Marvel"
- the skin rating is 2 stars, but I guess no one could find it to vote
- the "Show on my personal page only." box in the edit page of the skin is always checked, but I update this skin 3 times without checking it. It explains why no one can see it
...Anyone could let me know why

By placing it there, you can still show your work and get comments.
In the past, low rated work might not be accepted at all. Moving to your personal pages was a compromise created so you get exposure but the main galleries are not filled with low rated works.
I encourage you to continue making bootskins and strive to improve an move to the main gallery.

It's been sent to your personal gallery by the mods.
When a work goes through moderation, it gets it's first initial rating from the mods themselves.
From a thread I posted, similar to this.. LINK
We felt the best option, especially with something so subjective (and touchy) as wallpapers was to accept anything that does not violate our submission rules, and anything that would have been previously rejected is instead placed as "Personal Page Only" This is to try and avoid bruised egos and hurt feelings that we've often seen when someone has a work rejected.
We're trying to become more welcoming of new members, encourage more content being submitted, more artists frequenting the site etc.

I am not sure if you are saying you are unable to remove the check from the personal gallery only box, in which case, there could be a bug in the site. A mod will surely come along to address that.
If your work has 'officially' been sent to your 'personal gallery'...fear not...
Go here..Personal Page Elite Award to claim your medal by yours truly
Then go here for the Personal Page Elite Thread
Zubaz, beat me again. (I was huntin' links. lol)

Hmmmmm...
members who hide behind masks get NO stars until they reveal themselves.
(personally...I think there may be some entertainment value to the PS wars and winners should get automatic promotions...like me, for constantly smacking down that doofus!)
*note to self...include MySecret in next PS war for giving Bandit a thumbs up on no stars for ps wars...uh..yeah, like that.

, but I've not catch the modos' tastes
well, I'm a fully nasty gossip, in fact I totally understand that it must be a selection somewhere but when I go to the bootskin page I wonder how some skins have been validated (such a filthy mouth! Sorry everybody).
The worst here is there are no adding notes/mail from WinC about my skin, on the contrary I've been congratulated, nothing on the downrating from modos, nothing on the Personal Page banishing. I really prefer to receive a bad comment with some reasons and then encouragement (thanks Zubaz
) rather than being in the fog. More formative. Now I will demand my "Personal Page Elite"'s cocoa medal, which I'll stick on my screen during next boot

Of course I don't have my underwear. I'm definitely not wearing my underwear.
These are not boxer shorts. Mine are boxer shorts. These are Hanes 32.
My boxer shorts have my name and it says Raymond.
I get my boxer shorts at K-Mart in Cincinnati.
Definitely.
Definitely.
These are not my underwear
K-Mart sucks.

but I DID hear about it.
I think you have your mask tied to tightly and it's cutting off the circulation to your hat.

If a bootskin uses a different palette for the background image and progress bar it will not receive a rating at all, it will be rejected. Have you checked your e-mail?
There are no such things as 'penalties'. The rating depends on what people think of the bootskin.
