Ran across an article in the March 26 issue of Computer world. I don't have the link for it though but here's the gist of it. Ever heard of spintronics? according to the article it's the next step in computer language. Everyone knows that computers use binary, ones and zeros, to work. Two states, on and off, the electron is either there or it isn't. Spintronices takes advantage of an electron's spin. Since it spins either left or right in 360 degrees that gives it also two states but...360 degrees in four dimensions. In other words...360 degrees squared x 2 (or is it cubed). 360 x 360 = 129,000 x 2= 358,000 states!Either way...imagine how many different ways to do something really, really fast. Your thoughts?

After seeing your post on the explanation of your nickname, I am sorely disappointed with this response.

Yeah, me too! After that you'd think he'd be able to explain spintronics and how to split the dylithium atom....not to mention the origins of the universe..

Don't. Go. There...

Spintronics
Elactron-based computers...processors that fit on an atom...we were discussing this concept in my PC/electronics classes a few years ago. Nano-size self-replicators, injected at birth, to repair and enhance the body, theoretically extending life-span...cloning oneself and 'chipping' oneself so as to have ready-to-go extra 'selves' hanging in the fridge, just 'nuke' and insert chip...there ya are, right as rain and on the road again...

I read an article quite a while back about the same thing, however it involved things that had to do with the average human being able to see his computer screen adapted into vision as an overlay. It was something really complicated. I think its freaky.

Gee this is starting to sound a lot like Richard Morgan's Takeshi Kovacs series. just change it into sleeving and add in a needle cast...
