I found a site with a lot of looping video

Looping video creator

I know some of his work is not in the native format but he really does have some nice vid-loops.

Yup he does charge. But if people would contact him maybe he might just....raise his prices and collapes the worlds economy... Yeah I am a dreamer with a twing of sarcastic wit..

I kind of figured that if people would see some of his samples it might inspire some creativity.

Is advertising even allowed on WC?   Especially considering its in a roundabout way a competing product.

There is a thin line between advertising and promoting something that the users here might find interesting . . let's see where this goes and act if neccessary.

I dont see the seperation, If they are interested in it..it mean's they are being advertised to.

Basically the policy is saying as long as someone provides something that is interesting to the members then its ok to advertise it here.  I only bring it up because I soon will have Premium WB suites on my site and I would like to clarify whether it would be ok to post releases here or even list my site in any posts or comments.    The old..what's good for the goose" thing..u know. WC has also advertised somewhat competitive.. to itself.. software in the past too in it's articles. I would be interested in knowing how the policy is worded.

i recognize these videos, they are particle based and we're more than likely made in a program like Autodesk Combustion.

D. Arnaez releases smaller versions, here, of full packs he sells on his site. He usually just puts a link in the description. I've never seen anyone say anything about it. WWW Link

Perhaps releasing versions of the wb without animations and other features...or just in wb4 versions (pre per-pixel) here with the full version on your site?

Just a thought.

I was thinking maybe releasing the EXtras like walls logons and booters here with a link in the description to the WB's...would Stardock find that acceptable?

Wow.. 15 bucks, he's quite proud of those WB's.. Its a pity I cant find more than a 150 pixel thumbnail to checkem out. I might buy one.. maybe i'm just missing it

Well, I guess it's ok to advertise here afterall.

I have to wonder. D. Arnaez was doing this before WC started selling Master skins. After proving that there is a market for them, I imagine a lot of people will want to sell their skins. There are a lot of good skinners that aren't Master's or who may not want to split the profit. This begs the question...How much competition/advertising on the WC site will be tolerated if at all?

I just read over a thread where this came up with the Dream's, and they weren't for sale, but it was argued that they were in direct competition with some that were.

Well most people are probably aware I have been selling "Premium" themes on my site and TGT soft for nearly 3 years, making them for 5.. none of it is very new to me. With Vista killing off Visual styles I planned to transition smoothly into the sales of WB \ suites. If i could sell Master skins..I would. I just don't have the time to wait on Stardock to tell me I've posted enough, submitted enough or been helpful enough. This I have no problem with but I do fully intend to sell my work and get more into commercial skinning as well.

Seems like everytime I turn around I see a post linking to something that that is competing with Stardock and no one seems to say anything. It's going to start being a bit of give and take if you ask me.. Sites like WC need quality content to keep up membership whereas artists like myself need exposure and traffic. It would seem as though something could be worked out that would be beneficial for all.

I am sure it will. It would only make good business sense for both parties.

Buying footage from this site would be the last thing EVER that I'd do. I'd rather steal a renderfarm and use Maya & Mental Ray on 'em!

BTW on the cloud pack:
Non HD rendered clouds, half of 'em taken directly taken from Vue 6 presets/scenes? That's pretty much NOT a deal.

I wouldn't know about that. All I see are thumbnails. IMHO it would be foolish to spend money on that without being able to view the animation first.

I looked at this site some time ago but this taken from his site
"NTSC 720 x 480 Resolution" DV res not even basic HD 1280x720 the min res given for dreams on this site (not that all dreams online meet this spec) but thats another matter
I would have thought that for the prices he is asking for his clips he would have bought a HD camcorder by now and updated to HD rendering software
