WMP SKinning question

After a year of no skinning I have decided to try my hand at a new WMP skin and I realized I had forgotten everything.....
My question is How do you take an image and make it keep the beat.....
Hopefully this makes sense, as I am at a lost of explanation.
You know how on some skins they have a little speaker and as the beat goes it keeps the beat with flashing a bigger speaker pic ontop of the smaller..
Understand or should I go ahead and jump off a bridge now?
