Yahoo Widgets 4 Released!
Faster, cooler widgets, and more.

Yahoo has released the 4th version of their popular widget enabler, Yahoo Widgets (formerly called Konfabualtor).
Yahoo says the new version is faster and uses less memory. Having used it over the weekend, we were very impressed with its performance and overall level of polish. A new Yahoo Widget Finder comes with it which makes it easy to find more widgets without having to visit the website. The presentation and polish was simply incredible, far beyond anything else out there.
It also comes with a Yahoo dock which appears to be Yahoo's answer to the Vista Sidebar. While we didn't find this feature particularly useful (we turned it off after a few hours), others may find it a great way to display widgets in a sort of minimized form.
Yahoo Widgets includes a number of widgets that make full use of the underlying technology and have a degree of professional quality not found elsewhere. A number of nice web integration features make downloading and adding widgets to your desktop very easy (which is a major reason why WC doesn't have a Yahoo Widgets area -- the web integration between the app and the site is very tight).
For anyone interested in widgets/gadgets, it's definitely worth checking out.

I much prefer our local style of DX widgets and would rather support "local" artisans whenever possible, but there is a lot to be said for the whole Yahoo! Widget enterprise as far as diversity of applications to be found there...free!
