Skinning Philosophies

What do you like to skin?

Friday, March 23, 2007 by Frogboy | Discussion: Skinning

Which would you rather have?

A program with a complex and very rich skin format that requires a lot of work to make a skin for but the result can be truly unique (say the Winamp 5 approach).

Or

A program with a very simple skin format that is very easy to create for but results in skins that might look similar (say the Winamp 2 approach)

I like the winamp 5 approach. So what if you gotta work at it. The end result makes it worth it. Come on people...lets hear from the rest of you.

but with a approach also for beginner (like logonxp, dx, and many others) like that all people could be skinning and learn day after day

sounds like a comparison between skinning XP or Vista and having had a close look at Vista now I'll say..

A by far.

Both.

I prefer WA2x....but that's probably as I'm familiar with it.

If all were one or the other there'd be far fewer skinners and/or diversity...

What's skinning?

I'd rather come up with an idea and have the experts do it and not tell me how hard or easy it was.  Just deliver and tell me they had fun doing it.

Definitely that one, if it were easy, then everybody could do it, then wheres the fun of that?

Unfortunately Zubaz, those types of ideas require a bit of experience, LoL

Dont F! with my creativity.

The Xion media player skinning engine combines the best of both ways...A layered photoshop document tells the media player what to look like...dosnt get any simpler than that AND its very versatile.
