Text issues with skins that have no 'fonts for classic widgets' assigned

All my older skins and even some newer ones

Monday, February 19, 2007 by I.R. Brainiac | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Some skins, all so far that have no fonts assigned in the classic widget section,go to huge fonts on the start menu and window text.

I knew FF had issues with fonts if they were not assigned negative point sizes, but this is systemwide.

Ares by MikeB314 is a newer wb and it has no fonts assigned there. It goes BIG.All of my older skins are crazy looking.

So wassup wit dat?

I am under the assumption that if you do not have fonts for classic widgets assigned then your system will use previous skin settings. I don't get how MikeB got away without them assigned. I have never tried because of how sensetive they are.

First I would check the font size settings under display properties/appearance. Change the skin to XP default. Set the font settings under display properties to large and then back to normal.
Rebnoot. That should clear any previous settings. Try your skin again.

Rebooting is the only way to change icons and text settings system wide. Kiling explorer doesn't do it.

I would be glad to help keep your subscription alive. Email me your info and I'll see about getting you hooked up.

Hi there Craig...you seem to be the only person following me around.

Its not using previous skin settings, they change to large when any skin without those fonts assigned is applied.
I will try what you said...
What info do you mean?

Skins with the section assigned dont do this.

Have you checked your font settings in windowblind settings.?
How about under display properties?

I posted the comment below in the wrong thread.
All I got is...Try changing the fonts for classic widgets to a normal font and size, reboot.
Adam N has warned pretty clearly that messing with fonts for classic widgets can go nutty.
Seeing mIkeB's skin without any settings has really scrambled my nuggets.

I suggest ignoring MikeB's skin. Ity clearly defies the laws of skinning as does most things he does.

I must have skinned too hard yesterday. If fixing the font assignments fixes the problem, why not fix the font assignments? They may have worked fine at one point but an update may have broken them.
Not trying to be wise. I know you know this stuff. I must be missing something.

Not being wise grasshopper...It means I would have to 'fix' all my older skins and all older skins from other authors...they shouldnt be broken that way by an update to WB...Its no fun skinning your butt off if an update is going to screw up all your past work and create more work for you.
