Wrong version after the update of WindowBlinds 5.50.017!!!!

Thursday, February 15, 2007 by SteveGosselin | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Hello,

After the upgrade of WindowBlinds build 5.49s beta to 5.50.017 via Stardock Central, the build number is 5.1. Before the update: 5.49s beta.

I try this tip: «I would suggest changing download servers under Tools->Settings and in the Internet Section. You might also want to 'Refresh XML Data' as well.»

Same problem.

But, WindowBlinds show me via "System Information": WindowBlinds 5.1.

I'm really disappointed!!!!

Thanx in advance

Try the WindowBlinds build 5.49t beta. "System Information" shows WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 91 x86)) with this update.

As long as it's working, does it really matter what numbers it displays? I'm quite happy with Stardock's service, a little number mishap isn't going to cause me to pitch a fit.

Hello,

The problem is not the build number. I have wB 5.1 installed instead of wB 5.5!! All new features in wB 5.5 are not included with wB 5.1. Do you understand!?

As long as it's working, does it really matter what numbers it displays?

I have been satisfied but now, I find that there are often problems of this kind. It is not the first time.

I will try to uninstall this build et reinstall the real 5.49 (5.5) build!!

No need to repeat that as it doesn't solve anything.

Hopefully you archived your previous setup and then you could restore from it.  If not then you will need to wait until support@stardock.com can address your issue.

I've never had that happen, but having SDC archive it is always a good idea. I think there is a checkbox on the bottom of the window to archive the installations.

I have the same problem, I am now on the old 5.1 release. The interface has returned to the old look of Windowblinds. Stardock Central reports it as 5.50.017 and Windowblinds reports as 5.1, but like I said the inerface has returned to the old look. I can't get back to the old version because this is a release version and I don't have any backups. Oh well, guess I'm stuck until the next beta. Just wanted to report that I have the same thing as the thread topic.

@Calebrot: uninstall this wrong build. Reboot, and reinstall the real 5.49 (5.5) build.

I think people are reading this wrong. The RC is 5.5 this build is 5.10 not 5.1

DOH! THIS DOES LOOK LIKE THE WRONG VERSION

Hello,

Uninstalled wrong build and installed wB 5.49t directly. After that, all my themes (cyclops, 5imple, buufos,... all new themes included for Vista build) are disappeared (empty folders)! Impossible to reinstall because wB 5.49t flush these themes under Windows XP after the installation via Stardock Central. Also, impossible to install wB 5.1x because Stardock Central show me only wB 5.50.017 or wB 5.49t RC1.

Good job Stardock!!

It does appear that the server is providing 5.1 to XP users for some reason which is not what is supposed to be happening.

I will find out what is going wrong.

Sorry about that.

I just clicked on "Rebuild List" in WindowBlinds configuration screen and "ALL" blinds I had were back.

Whew! that sucked! I hadn't seen classic on my machine since the first WB5 betas.

Neil, just so you know, the "History" (change log) comes up with 5.1 info and nothing newer than that.

Just a question since I alwasy anoy the hack out of everyone on here anyway.

Why can't you guys just test stuff out before you release it? Or better yet, why can't you just get it right the first time?!?!>!!>

Right above is a valid example of things not working right. Your forms don't even work right!!! Large text overlaps because the spacing is wrong. COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Admin edit to remove huge text.  Please add this to the Forum bug post.  Using huge text there as an example would be acceptable.]

When is this going to be fixed?!?!?!?!?!?! Make some calls Neil! If I were you I'd be ranting and raging through the office. I'd make the idiot that made this mistake beg for his life...

The above is a joke for those of you who can't read "Sarcasm".
