Report New WinCustomize Bugs and Other Issues

Tuesday, January 16, 2007 by T-Man | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues

While we have worked very hard to make the new site error free there are always a issue here and there that were simply missed.  So this is the place that we would like you to submit site issues to.

Please take the time to read through items that have already been submitted so that you are not duplicating issues.   This will make it much easier for us in determining new or old bugs.

Also, when reporting a problem its very important that you include the URL to the page where the problem occured.  Also be as descriptive as possible.  And if it is a display issue please be sure to include what browser you are running and its version.

Wonder why they haven't been deleted.

He ( ak_67) probably hasnt been around to see it and this isn't the first time that someones site has been spammed like that. I think Jafo can take care of it in one shot.

That's what I was thinking too. Would be tedious to have to delete them one by one. I don't think I saw a single non-spam comment in there.

That is old spam on A-67's site. I had the same thing and so did a few others. Jafo took care of it quit a while ago. A-67 just hasn't deleted it yet. The last date for it was last May. Whoever was doing it was stopped in their tracks!

Question: There used to be a tab at the top of the page(s) to view the WC personal pages...was it moved, or is there a link somewhere that I'm not seeing?

ama02 Right above your name and avatar in the upper right you'll see 'My: ... Site' Click that link.

Addon to Reply #113: On non-WC setup personal sites (the first two links I gave) the My Settings and Log Off links aren't links, I can't even highlight the text to copy it. It only happens in Firefox (KiloKrash noticed the same thing in an older version of FF as well). Seems to work just fine in IE7.

Bebi, those arent 'non-WC setup personal sites' there lol. Took me a second to figure out what you meant by that. That's just the main website's view of an author's skins. I see what you mean about the library icons being missing. But using the latest version of firefox (2.0.0.1) I have no problems with the My Settings or Logoff links. Chalk it up to yet another bizzarre Firefox issue. Would be nice if its quirks were consistant

RE: Apocolypse's spam comments... those were posted there (based on the date) before the old site's guestbook was made so that you had to be logged in to make an entry. The 'My Comments' is the former Guestbook if anyone hadnt noticed It used to be burried on the 'About' tab of the old site. At any rate, I'll go ahead and clean those up.

When viewing a skin the left bar seems to disappear in FF.

Clicking on the downloads number on a skin's full view page, such as here:
https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=892&libid=34
Reports a link of this form on hover:
https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=892&libid=34##
and displays the particular skin's download stats.

Clicking on the downloads number from a gallery view page, however, such as,
https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=34
attempts this,
javascript:newWindow(400,500,'_blank', '/popups/downloads.aspx?skinid=476&libid=22',false);
and always shows the download stats for the same skin (one of Adni18's).

Search boxes on non-gallery/non-forum pages, such as the front page, attempt to connect to localhost!

I experience all the above with both IE7.0 and Firefox2.0

PurrBall Hmmm. Where are you seeing a left bar anyhow?

rapidrobot Good catch about the download stats The localhost search issue should be taken care of shortly.

Using FF 2.0.0.1 here, and the option to edit which items appear on the library menu doesn't save. It pops up when I click edit, but after making changes, and clicking save, it doesn't change any of the items on the list.

Don't know if it's already been mentioned, I didn't read through all of this thread, but I just wanted to mention it...

In " My Favorites " I have a few doubles of same skins - when I tick off the items to be deleted and hit ' remove ' they are not deleted.

If you don't mind re-adding them, you should be able to remove the duplicates by selecting both copies and removing, then adding the one again.

Did you test favorites during the beta?  They may hve gotten duplicated then.

If you don't want to try this approach, I'd suggest emailing [email protected] with yoru page URL and the skin IDs that are duplicated.

EDIT: What missing 'm"?

If you participated in the beta test then theres a good chance that dupers were created. If you let me know what skins have dupes then i can remove them manually.

That would be, [email protected] (note the missing 'm' in the quoted text)

one more small question. I searched in the forum first, but the only thing that turned up on the subject was from 2004.
Are we going to get back the little "Feature metals" we use to have on the other site for the Featured skins?

Yeah, thats something that we neglected during the preperation for the initial launch. We'll get that back in, rest assured.

Hmm, logging in works fine here, with the info staying etc... thats quite odd, but i seem to recall someone else with that problem as well.  Gef, I think...

Many firefox users are having to clear their Temporary Interenet Files (or cache, whatever Firefox likes to call it), close the browser and come back to the site to resolve layout issues and the like. I would recommend doing the same for your situation cj woodfill.

Your talking about the option in FF that remembers your log in name and password. I noticed that too. Everytime I come to log in after page loads I have to add my email addy to the log in screen but it is remembering the password only. Deleting cookies , cache and even using CC cleaner isnt fixing this bug with FF.

The duplicates are gone now for some reason..not sure when they disappeared ..maybe after cleaning cookies ?

But one thing driving me nuts is when I log in I check my profile page...I check the WC Awards area. When I start out for the day it looks normal like it always did. So this AM I checked - it was fine. Then I went about d/loading and making comments and rating stuff etc. After I was done the wierd " Top 1's " reappear every day. Its like every comment I make adds one more Top 1 . Is this happening to everyone or just a bug with me ?
