Report New WinCustomize Bugs and Other Issues
Tuesday, January 16, 2007 by T-Man | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues
While we have worked very hard to make the new site error free there are always a issue here and there that were simply missed. So this is the place that we would like you to submit site issues to.
Please take the time to read through items that have already been submitted so that you are not duplicating issues. This will make it much easier for us in determining new or old bugs.
Also, when reporting a problem its very important that you include the URL to the page where the problem occured. Also be as descriptive as possible. And if it is a display issue please be sure to include what browser you are running and its version.

| Fairry: I can't make much sense out of that Sorry. The redirect has never failed, and yes, that is the correct redirection Url. If you want to see another user's skins, use skins.aspx?acid=[accountid] or go to their personal site, skins.aspx. |
The redirect for the new site may not fail but what Im saying is any link that existed previously on my skin previews that linked to others work no longer function properly.
This is a link off of my last screen shot - its suppose to link to a cursor called " Checkmate" now when I click on it , it only takes me to the cursor Xp Gallery.
This is the URL:
https://www.wincustomize.com/Skins.aspx?LibID=25&view=1&sortby=8&sortdir=DESC&p=1&advanced=0&searchtxt=Checkmate
Here is a Screen shot of the page and my browser after I click on the above link.
Notice the browser says =checkmate , but as you see , Im not looking at that skin, im only at the cursorxp gallery.

1. It looks absolutely fantastic
2. It works!(there have been bugs, but there will ALWAYS be bugs...and look at how fast the team has repaired the stuff mentioned in this thread! KUDOS team!)
3. Change is good (sure, I have to replace a couple of bookmarks and do things a bit differently, but I have found all the stuff that I had before, and I see so much more offered!)
4. I'm proud to have the boss walk into the office now and see me browsing WC
I don't have a single complaint...keep it up wincustomize! (gotta get me a t-shirt)

Use these instructions to create a User JavaScript folder if you do not already have one.
Once that has been done create a text file with the name 'wincusto-fixes.js' (minus quotes naturally) and paste the following code into it:
// ==UserScript==
// @include http://*.wincustomize.com/*
// ==/UserScript==
opera.defineMagicVariable('m_Opera', function (value) { return false; }, null );
opera.defineMagicVariable('m_Moz', function (value) { return true; }, null );
opera.defineMagicVariable('browserID', function (value) { return 3; }, null );
You should now be able to remove any site-specific preferences masking your browser as Firefox; the advantage being that now any server-based statistics will be able to correctly count Opera ensuring it doesn't disappear from the stats altogether. (A common catch-22 being a site not supporting Opera due to a low count in the stats, when the count is lower than it should be due to visitors being forced to use another browser or hide Opera's identity.)
Note that I have seen the pinned post and appreciate the promise to support Opera (if you want people to test who are familiar with the typical places that sites end up breaking Opera (usually inadvertently relying on browser bugs such as Gecko's faulty handling of capturing event listeners) I'm happy to lend what time I can) even if there is no ETA, hell most of what I've seen works even under stock Opera. This is just to keep things ticking over as best as possible in the meantime.

if you can get these icons to lead to the respective browsers, one of them will display the information in the way that you want it to.
(excellent dock by WebGizmos and available in the ObjectDock Gallery)

Fairry That url specifies a search, which no longer functions the same way on the new site. Im sorry, but this is pretty much set in stone at this point. We are planning an advanced search but have no ETA we can offer at this time. As for the layout issues you're experiencing; Please configure your browser to use the site-defined font size settings. It's visible from your screenshot that the browser is overriding the font sizes that the website is specifying. If you prefer to use the larger font size, it's more than likely youre going to run across more layout issues.
BtEO Thanks for doing the legwork on that. I will add it to the post about Opera support.

Ok..as long as I know this is set in stone - no problem..I will update my old skins when the site settles down a bit and fix all the links that are now obsolete. As for the font issue - I've done that deliberately. The font on the new site is a tad smaller than the old site and I like to do a lot of reading here and I was getting a headache from it. Sometimes its a change in colours that gives me headaches and its just a matter of my eyes adjusting to the ' newness' of it all.

Examples: Link, Link
Now, when you go to someone's gallery who has setup a personal site, each skin has the appropriate library icon.
Example: Link
Also another thing, when I click on the Preview tab to see this post, I get this: Link. The preview box is all black, I've selected everything to show that the text is there. Using Firefox 2.0.0.1.

| And most importantly I had the option of viewing more than 8 skins at a time. |
Just click on "Settings" top right and set the number of skins you wish to see.

Addon to Reply #113: On non-WC setup personal sites (the first two links I gave) the My Settings and Log Off links aren't links, I can't even highlight the text to copy it. It only happens in Firefox (KiloKrash noticed the same thing in an older version of FF as well). Seems to work just fine in IE7.

| Question: There used to be a tab at the top of the page(s) to view the WC personal pages...was it moved, or is there a link somewhere that I'm not seeing? |
It's kind of hidden I guess.
Go the the home page or any page but the forums. Then look in the upper left hand corner (directly under the Home/Gallery buttons) and you'll see a "Home" link with an arrow to the right of it. Click the arrow then select "Personal Site". After that there are many ways to filter out the different authors...they've really improved it.

Edit: I found the pages (thanks again), and was browsing through some of them. Not sure if Apocalypse_67 realizes this, but his site's comments are all spam/links.

No joke! That's just awful.
There's so many on there that Firefox had a hard time handling it, about halfway down the page just breaks. I've never seen that kind of spam on here before. Wonder why they haven't been deleted.
