Report New WinCustomize Bugs and Other Issues
Tuesday, January 16, 2007 by T-Man | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues
While we have worked very hard to make the new site error free there are always a issue here and there that were simply missed. So this is the place that we would like you to submit site issues to.
Please take the time to read through items that have already been submitted so that you are not duplicating issues. This will make it much easier for us in determining new or old bugs.
Also, when reporting a problem its very important that you include the URL to the page where the problem occured. Also be as descriptive as possible. And if it is a display issue please be sure to include what browser you are running and its version.

I'm not sure that will give you any comfort though. That's something that I sure havent seen since we started working on the new wincustomize, and something that I havent seen since I started working on the forums about a year ago. As a friendly suggestion, you might want to try tweaking your settings. That message typically happens when IE has a heckuva time downloading content for a website, from another website, or when IE prematurely terminates some script that is running in the background. If you find that this is isolated to IE7 (and not IE6) then that may be a clue as well. If you can nail down exactly what is causing this (as it's almost definately a client problem) then we can see if there is anything we can do to prevent it. Just a thought that maybe your security settings are too high.

That's extremely off-topic. This post is for issues surrounding the website www.wincustomize.com. Please post your question in the proper software support forum, and I'm sure that one of our support staff will be happy to answer it.

I definitely suggest that you first uninstall FireFox & download & install the newest version. Your profile, extensions & preferences etc will be imported for you. Also most of the extensions have been updated.
Test out the pages here & see if that helps.
If that does not help an extension you are using may be affecting how the page is scrolled with your cursor. I know that FireFox checks for compatibly issues but a few of mine have loaded but borked either the whole page or messed up other extensions. So disable all the extensions, restart FireFox, test pages & enable each 1 at a time. If none of the above changes anything then maybe trying an extension called SmoothWheel may help

When I go to look at a screenshot this is what I see/don't see.
Now some time back I asked why I was not able to delete any of my skins and I'm still waitning for either a fix or answer.
Bushman, Did you forget to post a link to a screenshot or? I dont quite follow that last reply. Please be patient with bug reports. Usually when it's quiet that means we're hard at work
Thanks for letting us know, however this belongs in the 'Forum Bug Thread' post. Please make note for the future

For the average user (and all the others really) . . the forums are part of wincustomize.

Oopses are allowed
I just thought I would let everyone know. We spent a lot of time today working on the upload2.aspx issues that people were reporting. It was something very very difficult to debug, as it was happening only on the servers and not in our local testing environment.
We *believe* we have a fix up and running.
Thanks to everyone for your patience while we ironed this out. And thanks to those users who replied to our emails to help us reproduce the problem. Rest assured if any other issues rear their ugly heads, we'll give it our full attention and treat it with priority.

I'll let it be and see if it is magically loading the file in the background or something.

Okay I waited about 20 minutes on that black page. During that time something was going on b/c that progress bar at the bottom of ie was acting like it was loading something and my upload bandwidth was saturated. I could tell by the slow responsiveness of a terminal session I had open. After about 20 minutes I noticed my bandwidth was normal again so I check and now I am back at the upload2 form.
It has my Skin Name filled in.
It has my Category filled in.
It has my description filled in.
It does not have the paths to my thumbnail or .dream file filled in.
There is nothing on there suggesting my upload was either successful or not successful. This is very similar to my intial problems with the upload2 page with 1 exception: My initial problems at least showed me that an upload was occurring and had a little progress meter showing how much had been uploaded. Now I am just getting a blank black page with no indication anything is going on other than ie showing activity in the status bar.
So as far as I can tell, it is still not working at least for me.

In both browsers, the navigation-bar drop-down menus are opening very slowly and in incremental stuttering steps from top left to bottom right, gradually over several seconds. These menus open very smoothly & fast on my XP rigs using the same browsers.
The W2k rig is a P3/500, which is a bit long in the tooth, but wouldn't think that would be the cause of such a dramatic difference.

Can you tell me if my upload worked? Like I said, when it was done, I was back on the upload form with no indication whether or not it worked. I certainly don't see my dream available but maybe it is stuck in a moderator queue or something. I don't know how to tell.
Later today I will try again from my wife's XP-Pro/IE-6 system and see what happens. I'll let you know.
