What is happening?

As Spiro Agnew said  "we have more than our share of nattering nabobs of negativism."

Not too long ago Brad Wardell wanted to know how Wincustomize could be improved. He listed many ways Wincustomize had failed the community. There was a lot of feedback. It would be interesting to know if any of the suggestions people made are being considered?

Efforts are being made to establish a firmer set of guidelines for Moderators to follow when working on the forums, and when approving/rejecting submissions to the various libraries.  With the coming of WinCustomize 2007, focus is being moved towards community involvement.  We're encouraging the creation of new content in the forms of articles, tutorials, and library submissions, even more than we were before.  The goal is to make WinCustomize a community site, instead of 'that site that stardock runs'.

Zoomba really is the guy to talk to about this... he's making huge efforts in these directions, as well as Island Dog.

We are always taking into consideration any comments, suggestions, or ideas on how to improve things like community relations.  CerebroJD gave a great summary, and I can assure you we are working on some really cool things to gain more community involvement and interaction.

There are many things moving behind the scenes as we speak to make WC more community-driven than it currently is.  Island Dog and I have been working together a lot recently to come up with ideas for community events, site features and whatnot to make the site a place you want to come back to several times during the day to see what's going on.

One of the major pushes is to make the content of the site be driven by the community more and more.  Right now, it's myself, Island Dog and one or two other people that write a majority of the articles and news items you see here.  My hope is that 2007 sees the site shift to be more user-driven.  People feel a lot more invested in a site if they feel they are involved in how it runs day-to-day.

It's been less than a month since Brad's article went up.  It's going to take some time to get things rolling

I have not set anyone on fire for making stupid, repetitive posts since Brad's article.

Now I just think about it. Hard.

Glad to see you guys are proceeding with open minds.

Oh, the site is faster again lately. Thanks for that.

Hopefully in 2007 I'll finally be able to subscribe. I support the site by being a customer. I must admit that, just like in a family, I love it even though I don't always agree with all viewpoints, etc.
