Skinner of the Month Nominations for 2007?

Thursday, January 4, 2007 by Zoomba | Discussion: WinCustomize News

With the start of the new year comes a new round of "Skinner of the Month" articles.  Last year we only hit 3 in the 5 months it was running because I fell behind and didn't get interviews arranged in time.  This year though I'm trying to get a head-start and lay out several candidates a few months in advance.

That's where you come in.

Post here your suggestions for skinners you feel should be highlighted in this series.  I'll pick through the list and hopefully we'll be able to come up with twelve deserving artists to feature.

OK...so he's bigger than some small countries..

Like Australia? or New Zealand?

RomanDA makes new years resolution, not to continue to be as large as a small country, maybe a small city...

navigatio, Tim Dagger, boopish, danilloOc, Patrick24, Gef, Qx9, Zubaz, essorant, D. Arnaez, skinhit, Z71, MikeB314, RomanDA, Kenwas, messiah1, Richard Mohler, and Treetog <--- people (skinners) suggested so far... an impresive list... one that could fill up the year pretty easy... wonder why BoXXi didn't suggest himself (oh the modesty )

I'd like to hear from some of the newer skinners... maybe alternate from an 'older' skinner to a newer one

Wow! I'm genuinely humbled and surprised that some of you have placed your confidence in my work so I'd like to say Thank You very much!

As far as a featured artist though, I'd have to agree with S.K. that maybe strong consideration should be afforded some of the newer skinners...especially if it would motivate those "on the fence" to try their hand at skinning. I'm relatively new to this site but I've been skinning for a long time now and I've noticed that sometimes new blood has a bigger impact on encouraging potential skinners than old timers. I don't know if it's because they're still new at trying to figure it out themselves, if they seem more "approachable" or what but that's been my perception...

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth...

As a newer skinner, I'm not sure what I could offer. Mormegil is the one that got under my skin and got me plunking around attempting to see what I could create. I enjoy seeing the tutorials and experiencing the sharing of some of you "old" folks. It's nice to know that those with the terrific experience, that really shows through in the skins, are willing to share a moment with those of us aspiring to become as talented as they already are.

Thanks to all of you who have put my name in...for this Apprentice, just to be mentioned in the same thread as the likes of Treetog, danilloOc, navagatsio, essorant, kenwas and the rest is an honor in of itself!

There's lots of skinners I'd like to see a feature on but the one I'd have to nominate is WebGizmos. He's the reason I got into making docks and he really helped me out.

There are a LOT of great names tossed around in this thread.  Keep 'em coming!  Even if they aren't picked for a SOTM feature, I've got other plans in the works that I will want to involve leading skinners of the community in.

Excellent suggestions all!

Let's hear it for (in no particular order) -

Lovely62 - I couldn't live without her Rainys, and Widgets.

WebGizmos whose Tabbed Docks are essential to my very existence!

MikeB, Adni18, JJ Ying, danilloOC, Tiggz (oh where are you great one?), Night Train (been kind of quiet lately), treetog and many others!

Lovely62 and WebGizmos should get their props!

Those other guys are on Mount Olympus already. They are the Gods of skinning!

I like only Themerboy.

You only like him to be interviewed or you only like his skins. Either way, it shows a very closed mind. You might want to look at skins without noticing the artists. There are other great skins and authors around.

Wow! Thanks Messiah1 & Chasbo! Some recognition for the ObjectDock library....finally!

Some really great choices here! Would love to see a return from Tiggz as well (still waiting for that Omni skin)! Its always tough to come up with names of great skinners...well...not really...the tough part is remembering them all since there are so many.
