How to put fonts on buttons and...
Tuesday, January 2, 2007 by Uvah | Discussion: Skinning
What is the difference between bitmap margins and text margins? That's two...What do the numbers mean after days font in rainlendar? For example...19/0/0/0/3/2/1/34...I think the first is point size. Am I right? But the other ones I have no clue. Also in sysmetrix the different graphics images...in the .ini file the graphics description...is it always on for each graphics image? I have so many questions and don't know if there's room enough. Anyway...if anyone can lend a hand I'll be most grateful.
P.S.- Does anyone know the author of the Follower smx? I'd like to request permission to use his or hers glass images for the clock and histogram. Thanks

Have the Rainlender that you want to edit on your desktop - Right click on Rainy and follow the screen shot below to " Edit Current Skin "

Honestly? Most think a Rainlender is no big deal to make. The truth is its a royal pain in the ass most days. Unless you just slap up a rainback and an ini file and let the Rainlender use its default settings ( which is far easier than making all the parts yourself IE: Buttons , ToDo Lists, Event lists. Items pngs etc)
A perfect rainlender - Bitmaps are made for all parts including fonts. Those can take days if not a week or longer - especially if you make substyles ( small mode, Horizontal mode etc )
Rainlender seems to be dying out at the momemt, I'm not sure if its the introduction of " Vista " or people are just using sidebars , widgets etc. Most of my Rainlenders are geared for " Women " so I never expect a lot of downloads. But, I'm at the point that I'm not sure I'll bother making anymore Rainlenders. Unless there is an influx of women suddenly joining Wincustomize..I'll just finish up the couple I have unfinished at the moment.
I'm not trying to discourage you - please continue to finish what you've started.
I'll be here to help if I can..
As for the " I can get all but the days to show " when you get to the " Edit current skin " click on the " Days " tab and make sure the little check box to enable days is ticked and make sure rasterizer is on Fonts not Bitmap.

Seems we share a similar taste in rainys...looking at your list I see a lot of the ones I have.I also have of few of yours. Maybe geared towards women but it's the artwork I enjoy.

Your welcome - I gather you found the " Edit current skin " ?
Hopefully Rainlender will stick around - as for my rainy list , thats not even 1/10th of them. I download most of the rainies cos I too enjoy seeing what others come up with..I'm not saying all my Rainies are strictly for women - some are just meant for anyone that likes a bit of whimsy - I've seen lots of my Rainies used in men's screen shots. Sounds like you've made progress and are home free now ....
