All Library search borked

Friday, December 29, 2006 by Bebi Bulma | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues

Whenever I try to search for something in all libraries, either through the Wincustomize Firefox search plugin (which does all libraries), or just going into a library and switching it to all libraries, it always says "There are no items to display at this time. Please try again later"

Example: searching for Jitter in all libraries gets the error above, search in just the Windowblinds category and the essorant skin comes right up.

This happens on the current site version, I can't even figure out how to do it on the 2k7 version of the site. I'm sure it used to work before, not sure when it started doing this.

If you want to use test.wincustomize.com, all you need do is enter in the term you want to search on ( for all libraries ) in the search box in the upper right corner of the site and hit enter.

ie. http://test.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?search=fun

i believe Bebi Bulma is referring to the Firefox plug-in by GreenReaper

Forum Post Link

the page for it now is '404'

the plug-in still works for the forums, articles, and WC sites, just not the gallery

the site one is working nice - the plug-in was giving us the option of searching before even showing up here

Well either way of searching all libraries gives the same result (the search plugin or manually going into the gallery and changing it to all).

I went to the link above by andrew

then clicked 'all galleries'

then typed 'jitter' in the search box, clicked the magnifying glass or whatever it is and got this.

Well I'm not back until Tuesday, but when I get back I'll get with GreenReaper and see about an update to the plugin or a placeholder to do a proper redirect to 'unbreak' it.

I just tried a search for 'buuf' (no plugin or anything, just a search using the site's search engine) and got the same as bebi bulma. If I go to the windowblinds section and do the search, the blind is found, but an all libraries search doesn't seem to work.

Hi guys! This probably needs an update from me, and I need to get the search plugins page back up and running (my ISP account I was hosting that on expired). Check back in a day or so . . .

I've reuploaded the plugins. The GC2 forums search has been fixed. As others have noted, the "all galleries" search (LibID=-1, e.g. https://www.wincustomize.com/Skins.aspx?LibID=-1&searchtxt=greenreaper&g=1&p=0 ) is not working - this looks like a site-side issue. JoeUser search is also broken server side, but I don't see that being fixed for a while.

You may wish to point the JoeUser search to the JoeUser forums for the time being. The Wincustomize search will also be changing once the new Wincustomize is officially launched (which will be soon)

Speaking of libraries...I was just in sysmetrix looking for Apollo smx but the page refuses to change. I get stuck on page one. Link isn't working for some reason. Any ideas?

Can you post the URL you were at and what was returned?

I'm getting a new error now. If I click on the Gallery button under the header, and type in something in the search box to search all the galleries, like say searching for Cylon, it gives me this: Link. Trying to search localhost? Not much success there.

url is http///www.wincustomize.com/skins,aspx?libid=28. There was no return. Does that help?

Uvah The url you pasted has a couple problems with it. There are too many /s and skins, aspx is supposed to be skins.aspx. Try this link instead https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=28

Bebi I verified that and I'm trying to clean it up. Someone made a boo boo it looks like.

The global WC search is also borked. Someone hard coded it to localhost..

The comma in the url was my mistake. I did check the link and that was fine but...click on next page...still nothing. Another question...in IE how come the gallery is posted down the right side of the home page and in firefox it is not?

I cant seem to duplicate any problems that you're describing. Using the corrected url that I replied with, I can navigate to the next page without any problems on both IE and Firefox 2.0.0.1 (the latest version). Using the same version of Firefox I can also see the gallery list in the right bar on www.wincustomize.com. I'm not sure what is causing either issue on your copy of Firefox, but I would recommend clearing your cache/temporary internet files.

Never thought of that...it worked. I can browse the galleries again. Thank you CodeMonkey...I really appreciate it.
