Bootskins Red and Gray Only

Thursday, December 28, 2006 by dreicher | Discussion: SkinStudio Help

I have SkinSudio Standard and am having problems creating Bootscreens.  I have created several using images on my computer.  They look fine in SkinStudio Preview, but appear as primnarily gray with red highlights during the boot process.  How do I get them to go from 2 colors; gray and red; to 16 colors?

This is happening because your progress and screen images do not have the same color palette.

You should take your screen image decrease it's color depth to 4-bit then use that palette for the progress.

Once done you won't have this problem

Image is saved as a 16 color bitmap, then "prepared" in SkinStudio. Not sure what you mean by use that palette for the progress. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by use that palette for the progress.

Both images used MUST have colours chosen from the SAME 16.  That means if the progress image only has ONE colour it MUST be one of the colours also in the other image's 16.

A 4 bit image has a palette limited to 16 colours.  Both images must have that SAME 16 in the palette.....whether they are ALL used, or not....
