Question about uploading desktopx theme
Monday, December 4, 2006 by warreni | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I wanted to ask this question before I uploaded something and got flamed for it. I'm not sure what the protocols are on this, so here's my question: I have a DesktopX theme that I cobbled together from a bunch of disparate items I downloaded from the site. I think the items really go well together. But I don't want to upload it and have someone think that I'm stealing their work. If I uploaded it, I would give credit to all the people whose items actually comprise the theme. The only thing I did and the only thing I would take credit for is putting the items together. If this is something that is never done and would gravely offend the people who spend a lot of time working on the nifty stuff that gets uploaded here, please tell me and I definitely won't do it. Anyway, thanks for your time.
Regards,
Brian

Ideally, you would want to get permission to use their works in your theme.

Permission is always to your benefit.
Try taking a screen shot with description first and uploading somewhere.
Then see about contacting the artists involved and inviting them to look at your shot and see if they'll give permission.
Or it could be fan art, what do I know?
