Uusally around here, we talk about changing the look of your PC by changing through software like WindowBlinds.  One thing we rarely talk about because, well this is a Windows site, is skinning on the Macintosh.  ShapeShifter, a theming product from Mac software developer Unsanity cleared beta on its latest version, 2.4.  Usanity is one of several skinning applications available for Mac users.

While not yet as powerful WindowBlinds, it is a solid start for Mac users who are getting tired of the same old look.  If you've got a Mac that you want to spice up, head over to Unsanity and check it out now.

I thought Mac users have already had something to change the style for some time. There's so many themes available for Mac, it's a big thing porting them over to Windows (I have several Mac-ported themes).

Macs have had several different looks over the years, but building and running custom themes is a very recent thing for the MacOS world.

Gee, what rock have u been living under, Mac OS has been theming for years, and you act like you know everything? You really need to get informed before you make articles trying to sound smart. Shapeshifter has been out over a year and there was themeing before that as well, many Windowblinds themes have been inspried by Mac themes. Not to mention Shapeshifter is in version 2.4 not 2.0.4. You seriously need to research a bit before you make a post, because Mac's have had themes for well over 3 years and it has been mainstream the entire time. Not to mention welcome to the 90's? Windows wasn't even themeable in the 90's unless you count the very early versions of WB which even Stardock will agree it wasn't anything it is today.

Bebi Bulma, you are correct, Zoomba is 100% inaccurate in this article. I find it hard to believe people can be so ignorant in this day of age, why don't you get with the new millenium.

building themes and such has been around for well over 2 or 3 years.. i didn't know stardock had a superiority complex.

Unless you are just referring to Mac OS X, I remember using Kaleidoscope on System 7.5 as far back as around 1995 or so. For the most part, it was what began my interest in customization. From there it was onwards to a PC and the likes of LiteStep and eFX, which all eventually lead me to Stardock.

Jeez, I've just recently, in the last few days, been thinking about getting a Mac & this post title caught my eye. Thought things had maybe mellowed out with the PC vs Mac junk so we could move on...

Relax? No, you people need to learn that "tongue-in-cheek" articles, shouldn't be featured on the homepage of a professional site. Keep ur joke posts strictly to the forum as a thread and not an article. Saying what you did, joke or not, would have spread the wrong message to those that didn't know any better, we want to spread facts not what one may think is funny, by poking fun at another os. You really need to grow up and keep frontpage articles professional, and not a bias opinion.

Steve, you should just relax, and stop trying to make this so 'politically correct'. Zoomba has taken the step of informing our community of a cool update to Shapeshifter, and if you dont like how the article was written, take it up with him in a private manner, either email or chat. If that had been the article it is now, I'd have probably though 'well laaaa-deee-daaa' and not taken a look. However, due to the funny nature of it, I now have learned that a new version's been released, and it looks very complete! How about... we stop trying to make it so 'professional' and instead work on expanding our community to include others, and give attention to the other skinning apps out there? Sound good? Mmmkay.

The article still has a subtitle that seems to say Apple is late to the party. I didn't get to apparently see the tongue-in-cheek version but I can understand people getting upset. You don't put a "joke" on the front page unless its April Fools Day or you put a disclaimer at the end of it to say it was all tongue-in-cheek. Otherwise you will get the reputation that no one can believe what is on the front page which is supposed to be news items.
This is of interest to skinning but should have been presented straight rather than trying to joke and minimize the reason you are presenting the information.

In the subtitle area I often place little joking comments regarding the news story. That will not change, and it seems when it's not a joke about Mac, everyone thinks it's OK.

The only time the news article is funny is usually on April 1st. It's to be expected.
If News Articles are now going to be "tungue in check", maybe you should have a news article letting everyone know that from now on to expect humorous or off beat articles.
For as long as I've come here the "Front Page news" has always been 100% prefessional, straight forward and non-humorous. This is why, I think, everyone took it the way they did (including me).

I have posted articles with humorous comments in the past, it's just not usually about Macs, which is a needlessly touchy subject.

I forget often that I take things less seriously in general than many do, especially when it comes to the "hot button" topics.  Lesson learned for me.
