New version broke my sys tray dock
Wednesday, November 8, 2006 by Jimer | Discussion: ObjectDock
I just upgraded OD+ to the new version, and it broke the Sys Tray dock!
1. I used Zoom effect, when I mouse over now, the zoomed icon is offset to the left of the mouse pointer by about 2 inches on the screen.
2. I changed effect to Afterglow, and now when I mouse over all the way to the right (the dock is on the bottom right of the screen), the far left of the dock starts wiggling like it is trying to zoom.
Also, a suggestion: I would REALLY like to be able to control the order icons appear in the tray dock. For example, group network icons together (wireless, wired, etc.); also, I would like to add a separator at the far right, and have it stay there when new icons appear as tasks start.
Thanks again for a great product!

However, regarding the system tray dock, it seems to be working, but I don't see all of the icons that should normally be there. Taskmanager shows me that they are running, but their icons aren't in the tray. This doesn't change if I unload OD+ i.e the problem is still there.
I'll try disabling MCP and see if that makes a difference...

Using SDC, disabled 'MCP notification area support' (MCP smart startup was already disabled). Note that when I did this & dismissed the dialog, all the tray icons returned!
Closed SDC & rebooted. On restart no icons at all showing (to be expected since MCP was off altogether). Re enabled both MCP options in SDC.
Rebooted & original problem returned (only 6 of 10-12 icons showing).
FWIW.

| Try the stand-alone MCP install: WWW Link |
Just re-installed this and it didn't fix the issue.
There's one more icon I forgot: Microsoft ActiveSync.
Having said the above, it seems to be a little random as to which icons will display on any given reboot. For example just now after restarting following the standalone install above, ActiveSync showed up but the battery status which showed previously is now gone.

My reported problem appears on my main PC which is a Toshiba Tecra M2 laptop which during business hours is connected to an external KB & monitor via a docking station. While in this configuration, with the display adapter set to 'Analog Monitor' i.e the external screen and the 'digital display' i.e the laptop's flat panel screen is switched off, then I get the system tray problem.
If the laptop is run standalone i.e using it's flat panel screen only, then the system tray comes up perfectly!
I have a home PC (desktop) which functions perfectly as far as OD+ & the system tray is concerned.

Hi Jimer:
Did you have your dock's alignment changed to left or right? (And if so, which?)
At any rate, I believe I've fixed your problem if that was the case ; found some problem with the new zooming algorithm when the alignment wasn't centered. Should be all fine now with the new beta we're hoping to release today or tomorrow. When the new one comes let me know how it goes
Thanks
