Flyout menus-flyout vertically on side dock

They don't flyout sideways

Sunday, October 22, 2006 by hotrod11 | Discussion: ObjectDock

I've just created an tabbed OD on the side of my screen that I'm trying to use as a 'sidebar.'  The problem is that I've added a couple of flyout menus to the dock but they flyout from underneath the icon instead of out to the side.  I can post some shots, but I think I described it correctly.

Is this normal?  Or should I start all over, clearing the cache and such?

how close is it to the bottom or the top of the window?

Slide it to the middle, and see if that corrects it.

It happens if the item is in the middle or on the edge. I think I figured out why it happens, but I don't know if there is a fix.

I started with a new tabbed dock as a drawer on the left side of the screen and checked to reserve screen edge, but not to autohide.

Started adding shortcuts and one flyout menu. It worked until I stretched the background to run the length of the screen. Now it only flys out downward and not out to the side.

I guess I won't use flyout menus.

Does Stardock support come to these forums or should I submit this as an email?

They do pop in but you are better off emailing [email protected] for app bugs opposed to community support. And unfortunately, I think you have taken this as far as you can here.

Hi hotrod11:

I've adjusted the code for the next version so that if it is indeed docked to an edge, it'll only show the flyout menu on the opposing side. So if its docked on the right, it'll only fly out to the left no matter where it is, etc. Hope this works for you!

Cool. Thanks.

When is that due out?

If I could, while I have your ear, ask another request....

I'd like to see  regular/non-tabbed docks have the ability to reserve the screen edge space like tabbed docks can.

Thanks again. !!

This feature is in place on the current build. On the positioning tab.

Thanks Sir Zubaz, but no it is not. I'm running ODPlus 1.3 build 526u.

For regular non-tabbed docks there is no option for it to reserve the screen edge, like you are able to do with tabbed docks. You can only place it on any edge and set the z-order, but you can not reserve the screen edge.

Is there a newer build?

There is a newer, beta build on SDC.
Check the show beat at the bottom and go to town.

I am using OD Plus 1.49a[b].005 ( very latest beta version ), just added a flyout to tabbed dock, moved dock to side, flyout comes out to side of icon not underneath ( dock on right, flyout came out on the left ). Reserve screen edge for nontabbed docks is there and works well.
