Since I have not seen anyone else post the download link, I thought some might be interested.
The link below will take you to the download page for Vista RC2, which is currently available.
I recommend using the Akamai download manager link.
Note - this is for 32-bit version. [Edit - they have added the 64-bit as well]

I will outline the instructions-
1.Partition your hard drive-you could try doing a clean install of windows for this.
2.Install XP on one partition.
3.Download the .iso
4.download the Free virtual CD ROM for Windows XP 2.1 (http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/xpvirtualcd.html)
5.'Mount' the .iso
6.Install on the other partition
7.You're done!(and you still have XP of course)

No, but it'll compensate for that by being frightfully slow to install and use. So don't go thinking that you've saved some time.

The install process time will depend on which method you use.
If you do a clean install, you can take advantage of the 'image' technology new in Vista installation process (which takes about 30 minutes, not including the key entry, partition option selections, and the performance assessment during final load).
If you do an upgrade, it will take up to 120 minutes due to the use of an 'XP' like installation process where hardware configuration, software configuration, and registry keys need to be written along with the OS file copying.
Speed of the OS will obviously depend in a large part upon the hardware of the machine it is installed on.
I run on a single core Pentium M processor based system, with a 533 Mhz FSB, 2 GB of RAM, mid-range ATI video (PCI express adapter) - all of which combine for a rating of '3.4' and works quite well.

My system is a DELL P4HT 2.8GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9800. (Windows Experience Index 4,1)
It'd most likely be quicker for me to back up the few files I had on the Vista partition (I keep most files on anohter HD anyways) and do a fresh install. It'd be quicker and I'd be sure I had a clean system.
