ObjectBar 2 gallery added! RightClick gallery added!

Skins, themes, and more!

Saturday, September 23, 2006 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

We have added an ObjectBar 2 gallery.  While many ObjectBar 1 themes will work with ObjectBar 2, the number of underlying changes in ObjectBar 2 make compatibility somewhat iffy.

So we've created an ObjectBar 2 gallery where you can upload ObjectBar 2 skins and well as themes. What's the difference?

A theme is the actual collection of bars on the screen. A Start bar, a Sidebar, whatever would be an example of a theme.  The bars in those themes can be skinned.

Similarly, we have added a RightClick section.  RightClick skins are compatible with ObjectBar skins (or more precisely, RightClick can be seen as a sub-set of ObjectBar in terms of functionality).

Making ObjectBar skins is quite easy to do.  Documentation is here. Have fun!

BRilliant. It'd be great to see what skins will be whipped up for OB2.

Very nice. Much appreciated - but not as much as I appreciate OB2.

It's a shame that these new galleries are not available to the paying customers who use the wincustomize browser. I've refreshed libraries and don't see them.

Just installed OB2 and have been dinking around with it for about two hours. Better go find a tutorial as I'm getting mishmoshes ["mishmoshes"?! Is that yiddish? Po'-ese?...]

Relax. I'm sure Stardock will have a SDC/WCB soon. It's nice that everything is integrated but a day or two of non-integration won't kill you.

Look on the bright side, new libraries!

Well now it's been 9 days since the announcement of these new libraries.

And they still are not avalible to the PAYING CUSTOMERS with a wincustomize subscription?

Why PAY for wincutomize?

PS: as in my original message, I have "Refreshed Libraries"

They've been available since the day this thread started. Try logging in with Internet Explorer or Opera instead of the WC Browser. Just so you know....the OB2 library is currently empty and the RC library has only one new skin since August 8.

Wouldn't let me edit.
Forgot to mention that I am a paying customer........

His point is that SDC and WCB are part of the subscription price and all libraries at WC should be available via those two tools.

Not to belabor the point but they have been available thru SDC's Browser. I don't use the WCB but I see it's been almost 4 months since it had an update released. I'd imagine they'd put more effort in if there were skins flooding into those libraries. The $20 subscription includes WCB but I would hope that's not WHAT your paying for.

But they are not available through the "Skins and Themes" section/function. I chatted with Brian Harper (the dev) who was going to contact t-man to see what was up when he couldn't do it either.

YMMV but I trust his.
