Toshiba Joins the Battery Recall Club

First Dell, then Apple, and now Toshiba has begun to recall laptop batteries. Around 340,000 of them!
Toshiba is just the latest in a string of companies doing recalls on Sony-made laptop batteries. However, this time it's not because of risk of fire or explosion. The impacted batteries on Toshiba laptops merely fail to retain a charge after a fairly short period of ownership. This defect impacts Dynabook and Satellite laptops made between March and May of this year.
This latest Sony battery failure comes at a crucial time as the electronics giant is attempting to build positive brand recognition for its PlayStation 3 game console launch later this year.

Great...now I have to find out if my M60 is affected by this. It also happens to be at a repair shop at the moment, so maybe I can get the battery fixed at that point too.
Also, I've noticed no problems with my battery. Absolutely none. Maybe it's an act of fear so Toshiba won't get sued?

it would seem Sony needs something kicked & a few heads butted together to cause such worldwide stress + concern for Laptop owners & humbling & embarrassing the top Laptop manufacturers....Dell, Toshiba, Apple should bring a class action lawsuit against Sony for negligence & poor industry stewardship

I'm still leaning towards conspiracy here: "The very dependable Sony Vaio, no battery fire or meltdowns, recharge failures, and at 20% off right now, they've never been better value...get yours today and we'll throw in a bonus protective satchel, a PSP3 with two free games and a one year subscription of half priced broadband internet, yes, Sony has become a dependable ISP for your convenience"

"Sony's slick, give the rest the flick and let us cover all your electronic, computing & multi-media needs."
Or there again, Sony really might've stuffed up big time....can't wait for the next thrilling installment.

Oh, but the PSP3 portable will....the batteries for those however, will NOT be akin to those shipped to Dell, Apple & Toshiba. As with the Vaio laptop, the PSP3 portable will perform flawlessly, with all its internals and consumables certainly receiving the appropriate product quality testing overlooked for those shipped to competitors.
If ever there was a method to the apparent madness, this is it....make the competitors products look bad, then heroically show an act of good faith to recall/replace the defective components, which of course have no detrimental effects when installed in home grown products...effing brilliant, no wasted manufacturing processes or resources, And Sony eventually come up smelling of roses.
The thing with roses, they thrive on bullshit (manure)
***oh, all this conspiracy stuff, it's so exciting/thrilling***
