WindowBlinds 5 Question
Tuesday, September 5, 2006 by ElijahBaley | Discussion: WindowBlinds
If I would have looked at this forum and had been honest with myself, I would not have put down the money I did for WindowBlinds. In reality I purchased the full Object Desktop. I have yet to see a single skins that I didn't have to pay for that was either buggy or just not that pleasant on my eyes.
I understand that different people have different tastes, and I can live with that. I also don't mind paying for a suite if I need to. The new Argos suite looks really nice. However, I have had nothing but problems with WB 5 since I purchased it. First, double clicking on the system icon doesn't always work like it should. I have to single click and pull down to close. Second, the windows repainting wasn't always consistent. I have tried several different themes, including themes such as Novum OS 1.12. I really can't believe that it is the skins issue. Am I wrong?
I have since uninstalled WB and my machine is much more responsive. By the way, I have a Pentium 4 3.6 GHz HT PC with 1 GB memory and a 256 MB GeForce Go 6800 with the latest drivers. So, it isn't my machine.
I would like to reinstall WB and give it another shot, especially since I paid for it. Does anyone have any recommendations? Should I definitely stay away from the betas?
Thanks.

I will reinstall and give it another shot. I had to previously disable WindowsFX because of shutdown issues similar to those posted elsewhere. I had DesktopX running for a little while, but decided I wasn't that into the widgets and gadgets available. I am more of a clean desktop, simple windows themes type of person. I prefer the Royale media center theme over the Windows XP defaults. Right now I just have Enhanced File Dialog 1.00.002 and IconPackager 3.11.106. I will post my WB system information once I reinstall.
Thanks.

Since these skins are created by people in their spare time (read hobby) and uploaded for our use/critique for free (you could always whip out Skin Studio) - I ain't going there.
That's one way to look at it.
There other is your machine couldn't handle it.
Once you have it reinstalled, post the WB system information.
Sometimes the betas work out better. I just suggest archiving for easier rollback.
and what other 'enhancements' are running at the same time?
