ObjectDock and Virtual Desktops
Object Desktop Integration
Saturday, August 26, 2006 by Dangerousdaze | Discussion: Docks
PLEASE, I am literally begging you, please, integrate your Object Desktop modules. Specifically, virtual desktops and Object Dock.
"Virtual Desktops" is *the* single most useful component of Object Desktop and now that Apple have unveiled "Spaces" will likely receive renewed attention. I would love to use Object Dock in place of the Windows Taskbar but I can't do that until you implement some way of exposing the virtual desktops through the Object Dock interface. It's very easy to visualise how that would be done and I refuse to believe that it would be that difficult to implement.
I've asked for this since Object Dock was released and I'll keep popping back every so often and reminding you.
You know it makes sense!

visualization and implemenation are not mutually inclusive

All you need to do is make sure your taskbar is not locked and then you can drag the virtual desktops off the taskbar into their own window. You can now hide the taskbar forever! I've been running it like this ever since the latest SVD build.
OK, it's not in OD, but it's just as good while we wait & see if your suggestion is implemented.

My comment is based on earlier statements that Virtual Desktops were re-implemented to make them "integration-friendly" (e.g. for ObjectBar). If the component is already engineered to support integration then it's really just a matter of exposing the functionality, i.e. visualisation.
Thanks for the advice on dragging the windows onto the desktop. I've done that and while it's not perfect it's a step in the right direction.
