downloaded IE7,first menu command didn't do anything'removed it. Thanks Microsoft

Installed IE7 RC1, rebooted, fired up IE... boom. Crashed right out. Tried 4 or 5 more times with same result, uninstalled and went back to IE 6

I had a hard time installing it. I finally got it installed after about 20 minutes.

Running great on my end, I can never get firefox to run properly (never been a fan of Firefox anyways) Guess it depends on the system.

Hmm...still running IE6...wonder if I'd benefit from moving to IE7...better go check it out. Thanks, ID, for starting this thread.
[edit: went to second link I.D. posted above...good info...wondering about"Search sidebar disabled, View Source and other changes. Guess it'll be a matter of adaptation to IE7 for me]

Thanks for the info, ID....I generally use Firefox, but the IE7 betas are a big improvement on IE6 and I'll give this release a try for sure.

I have IE7 installed, but I won't use it. Its got a poor interface that I can't get used to using and I can't customize it like I used to be able to do.
Otherwise it does seem to work faster than previous versions and the additions of tabs is nice to have, although I don't like that the tab bar area is taken up by other icons and stuff, so there isn't much room for tabs.

They will probably just end up buying Firefox for IE8.

No problems here. I got tired of waiting and waiting for fire fox to load every time. The interface is different but so was fire fox different when I started using it. Loads quick and I like the security enhancements.

I'm a "die hard" FireFox user. I "stepped up" from Opera to Firefox well over a year ago, and is where I stand.
HOWEVER, I've been following the IE7 activity. I've downloaded the betas and now this Release Candidate... I will say, Microsoft as well as, IE has come a long way in providing a great browsing experience.
I'm not here to start a "browser war".. So I won't say what IE is missing, even though it's obvious...
But, I will say that IE7 will be a damn good "free browser" to have bundled in with Windows Vista. And for the regular user (which I'm not).. Will be more than sufficient for their internet browsing needs.
Hats off to Microsoft on this one. "Ya done good."

Not sure what tabbed browsing will work like...like "katiesoft"? I used that for a while and found it enhanced my web-work, but ultimately it got 86ed due to resource-paring on my PC.

I won't lie Jafo. I didn't look at the notes on what was improved or what. Seems to me the ActiveX isn't as quirky. Other than that, just FEELS more stable overall. It's worth the upgrade to RC1 from Beta 3.

Oh and I'm not IE7 hater, in fact, I like a lot of its aspects and I'm glad that the average Joe user will soon have a more or less normal browser, and who knows, they might even become more browser-savy as a result and switch to FireFox. Speaking of which, as long as there are such awesome extensions for FireFox as AdBlock (cannot live without it!), MouseGestures, TabMix and more, I just don't see any reason to switch to IE, any version.
