AOL is digging for the gold.....literally!

Wednesday, August 16, 2006 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize News

When I first read this story I really thought it was a joke. AOL is going to dig up the garden of the parents of a convicted spammer in search of gold and platinum. I can just see the next AOL contest now. Win free gold bars with your new subscription!

"After threatening to get tough on serial junk e-mailers three years ago, AOL intends to show its conviction has not wavered by digging up the garden belonging to the parents of a convicted spammer--in pursuit of buried gold and platinum.

On Tuesday, the company announced that it intended to dig up the garden in Massachusetts belonging to the parents of Davis Wolfgang Hawke. The parents claim that they have not seen their son in more that a year, not since he was fined $12.8 million by a U.S. court under the Can-Spam Act. "

Laughable...They might need it after the EFF and FTC get through with them. I hope they find didly-squat! NO..better still.. I hope they inadvertently strike a huge elepant oil reserve on that property and have no rights to it....that would be wonderful!

With all the financial issues they have, this kind of PR is the last thing they need. Really asinine!

Can't say I'm an AOL fan, but anything that Pisses Off a Spammer is alright by me.

Just keep in mind how you feel when you get 40+ emails and have to sort thru them to find the 1 or 2 that are actually for you.

I think he hid money in the walls of their house......and in the upholstery of their cars........and the lining of their clothes......etc.........etc...........

True - but AOL is digging their own grave here. Since they announced their new " free to all email " coming soon. All AOL paying customers had ads on the bottom of their email....and now even though according to AOL advertising they have the best spam control anti-virus etc...i'm getting spam mail coming through all of a sudden. Never got even one piece before - now Im getting web links from people and of course - the might Viagra spam. Good job AOl...keep digging - I live in Massachuseets too - maybe the golds in my Tulips
