Google Music? Not gonna happen.

For the last couple of months rumors have been propogating over the net that Google will launch a Music service. One of the more creative names floating around was GMusic. Most of the speculation came from the reported meetings between Google and music industry executives, and job postings from Google related to music.
At a recent event here in Florida, Googles head of development said "We are not going to be selling music."
He went on to say that "the big opportunity in digital music is in developing the ecosystem: one that allows consumers to move content from the home to the car and between devices with ease."
It looks like a Google music store will not be arriving, but I will bet Google will take some interest in brining some sort of music integration into Google.

Wow, Easy CD-DA Extractor is a hefty $40 and it doesn't do MP3pro...hmmm. I'm so sad...

in keeping with the google philosophy of sharing information, i'd like to see them have an engine that searches for music across all digital stores. This crosses a lot of boundaries, though, and i don't see it being easy to do.

If Google wants to keep up, they better come up with something fast. Especially with the just released Yahoo Music Engine . So far its a worthy alternative to WMP.
As far as a music service, since the satellite radio industry is showing more signs of struglling of late, and with Google having an advertising deal with XM, why doesn't Google just buy XM and go from there?
