Personalize Windows with Object Desktop 2007!

Over the past few weeks, we've been letting out little bits of information on the impending release of Object Desktop 2007.  There have been articles highlighting updates to utilities such as Keyboard Launchpad,  Object Desktop Launchpad, Virtual Desktops, and Theme Manager, as well as the announcement of a brand-new utility; Enhanced File Dialog. 

Well, today the wait is over, today we are officially launching Object Desktop 2007.  Part of our goal with this launch is to help bring the power of tools such as WindowBlinds and IconPackager to a new group of users.  In the past, Object Desktop and its components were squarely targeted at power users and leading edge computer makers looking to get the most personalized look possible out of their PCs.  Now, with the updates to applications like Object Desktop Launchpad, and the recent redesign of Stardock.com, we are trying to extend the power of our software to users who wouldn't consider themselves 'techies'.

The New Object Desktop Launchpad

As always, we maintain our commitment to regularly updating our products with both bug fixes and new features.  In the past year alone we've released a major update to WindowBlinds, several updates to DesktopX, IconPackager, SkinStudio and numerous others.  In the upcoming year we plan on continuing these regular updates, but also ready our product line for the launch of Windows Vista, early in 2007.  With our software on Vista, we aim to actually define "the edge" that power users are always trying to reach.  While we can't talk about our specific plans for Vista, know that there is some pretty cool stuff coming down the pipeline.

So, if you're a user dabbling with the shareware versions of our products and haven't purchased yet, or if you've been around for a while and have simply let your subscription lapse waiting for something new and fabulous to come out, now's the time to pick up Object Desktop 2007.  Not only will you be ready when Vista launches, you'll be able to bring the look of Vista to your Windows PC today.

@ RTCP: If you are using Stardock Central, and you havethe most up to date version it should be listed in the Object Desktop category. On my list its about the 10th on the list. Called Object Desktop Launchpad. I just installed that today...

THANKS for the info Ronan H  I will download Stardock Central again today. I updated yesterday and don't have that as an option as you stated.

Hi Ronan H- sorry that the new goodies are not doing the business for you,but the reason I am "Falling off my chair" is that in the new ODNT Launchpad we finally have a central console that actually works,unlike the old Theme manager.I am a fairly new boy to SD,joined earlier this year,so everything is still a bit new and strange.As for acquiring the update, I just logged into SDC and clicked on the appropriate items listed.Not sure if that is what you wanted Ronan H,but come back if you have any more queries.

Thanks Jumbuck, im still a bit in the dark about it all despite being here for years, im sure one of the WC or SD bosses will shed some light on the situation in here when things settle down. I imagine with all the new stuff happening they are on top of their heads...

Hi Ronan. I've just reread your original query of Aug 2nd and I think I have cottoned onto what you are concerned about.The OBDT 2007 that has just been released,and which you and I and countless other Stardockers have d'loaded is just that,the new 2007 version,but as we were users,for us it was an upgrade.We still have all the new bells and whistles though,just as a brand new user would have if they were d'loading the software for the first time.Still not sure whether that clarifies anything Ro,be interested to hear your comments.

Yeah i think maybe its a simple as that, i suppose i feel that the eagerly awaited release of OD 2007 isnt such a big deal for existing users, and indeed even if there wasnt an OD 2007 release we ould still have been privy to newly updated products anyway, as we have been at any stage up to now...

If i remember correctly there was no big launch of "OD 2006" or "OD 2005" as such, but i (and other subscribers alike) was none the wiser and i received updates via Stardock Central as per usual.

I think thats all there is to it, maybe a big launch like that is just to generate more interest and more subscriptions, which is totally understandable seeing as WC and Stardock are such big businesses, but i guess i was expecting more, or maybe more appropriately worded, something different than what i was already entitled to...

Anyway, i think i have a handle on it now, hopefully anyway, it seems all so straightforward looking back, the name of an old play comes to mind - "Much ado about nothing..."
