WB5 eats luna! Major problem!

Sunday, July 9, 2006 by mathie14209 | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I am having a very serious problem with WB5. After a recent hd reformat, I upgraded to wb5. Everything seemed fine until I unloaded WB and tried to go back to XP's luna. Then all hell broke loose. It would seem that wb5 is somehow trashing luna. Luckily system restore can fix it. Have tried unistalling and reinstalling, but the problem keeps reoccuring. I decided to try WB4 since it is still available on SDC, and it gave me no problems. But now I have issues with using skinstudio, and there is no older version of that available.

before uninstalling wb, did you set it to show windows xp style? or did you just uninstall?

The problem was initiated by simply unloading window blinds. (I didn't uninstall at all--I had to do a system restore in order to fix the problem. The first indication that there was a problem was that there was no preview for "xp style" under desktop properties. Trying to revert to xp style pretty much corrupted the entire gui. If other people are not experiencing the same problem, perhaps it is because I do not install WB to the same hard drive as windows. If this is the problem I hope that SD will look into fixing it.

If 'Luna' is not in: C:\WINDOWS\Resources, then download http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/Resources.zip and put it there.

This has been seen in the beta testing and is still hanging around.

You can apply the "Windows Classic" theme via WB configuration panel > reboot > use the Display Properties\Themes tab\Theme list to select and apply the "Windows XP" theme (the preview should now be there).

Once the preview shows up and you apply the "Windows XP" theme, the issue will not show up again.

Thanks Corky. You were completely right. I should have thought to restart in classic. I hope that SD will elimate this bug in the future.
