Joe User is "Joke User"

Get Your Free Blog! Next Year!

Friday, June 30, 2006 by TheGuyPC | Discussion: Virtual Communities

Everyone at Joe User is just so happy and fun! You have to have a sense of humor with a name like Joe User!

I was considering starting a blogsite dedicated to the discussion of marriage. I was going to call it Harry Crabs. My wife balked, so I digress.

There is really no virtual community to compare to the honest, open perspective that Joe User has. There should be more like it. This world would be a much richer, more diverse place.

I, as soooooooo many others are just grateful to be blessed by the absolute intelligence that this community offers.

Thank you so much. And to do it all for free?! Wow!

I'll bite...

You know what the best part of someone being loser and trying to hurt the feelings of others is?

The person with the hurt feeelings will wake up and start a fresh new day while having learned a lesson....but the person being a loser will wake up and yes,...... still be a loser.

Good grief, man, if this blog hurts anyone's feelings, well, then they probably ought not stick their head out the door in the morning. All we've done is hijacked a thread, and we've done it right well if I do say so myself.

As to us possibly being losers, well, we're all losers, some of us are just better at it than others!

I don't think Night Train was referring to those of us who have hijacked this thread and steered it from its original course.....but isn't that what good pirates do, taking charge of others' rudders to take 'em places other than they intended!

Yep, so come aboard matey an' join the crew fer some shenanigans.

What shall we do with the drunken sailor, what shall we do with the drunken sailor, early in the morning.....

Has anybody come across this page http://www.knitting-crochet.com/abb.html suddenly popping up while typing a forum post....clicking 'back' to find the typed text has disappeared ?

I've had it happen a couple of times now....and it's damned annoying! Just a few moments ago I was typing a reply to Dr Guy and this page came up when I hit the space bar towards the end of a line....strangely enough, after making an abbreviation.

Naturally, I'll run my trojan, spyware and anti-virus proggies to be sure the cause is not on my end, but could this be the work of advertisers/spammers, etc?

I will get back to my reply later, but right now I'm too pissed, having lost it twice cos of this unwelcomed page intrusion.

Well it's not at my end...I ran Spybot, Adaware, TrojanRemover and MS Malicious Software Removal Tool, plus Avast Antispy and came up clean, zilch, nada nasties.

Thing is, I've had it happen a total of three times now and not always to the same page as shown above, so I'm thinking there's a problem somewhere. Just hope what's causing it is found soon. As for Stardock's new mind reading machine....well I turned on the 6 o'clock news and the Houses of Parliament in Hobart & Canberra are still there, so it's not working

Now back to business...

Best I lay off the grog to make sure there is enough to go around!

I'll say...also to give yer liver a break....can't 'ave ye keelin' over wiv scerosis, now can we! Besides, we need ye sober one day...to take an accurate roll call before we goes on a rampage inland fer supplies, more grog and wenches. Seems the last lot o' wenches got wore out by this motley crew we got 'ere....gonna have to make some new rules about wenches, no more workin' 'em to the bone swabbin' decks 'n the like while that scurvy lot be lazin' around sunbakin'.

Aye, me Liver can use a break. But then who are we going to get to swab the deck? The crew chants but 2 things. Wine and women! Not always in that order. Hmmm....I hear they be some newbies at Stardock. Real rubes! Mayhaps we can shanghai a Zoomba or his like to swab the decks?

Okay, enough is enough. We ALL know this thread should not have survived this long, let alone 266 posts. And now it degenerates into this swill of Pirate-nese' that I thought Starkers had outgrown. (I told you before about being coherent or at least supplying a translator)

So I have decided to set fire to this thread! Yes! Imma gonna do it. But ...I am willing to be kind enough to share with you Starkers theme song to sing along with as it burns and the HMS Starkers sinks slowly into the deep...

Men

(Group of men singing in the background)
Men, men, men, men
Men, men, men, men...

It's great to be on a ship with men
and sail across the sea, oh,
We don't know where we'll land or when,
but it's great to be with men.

'Cause men can sweat and men can stink
and no one seems to care, oh,
We'll throw the dishes in the sink
and clog the drain with hair, oh!
(And clog the drain with hair, oh!)

Men, men, men,
We're a ship all filled with men,
So batten down the ladies' room,
there's no one here but men!

Men, men, men, men
Men, men, men, men...

There's men above and men below
and men down in the galley,
There's Butch and Spike and Buzz and Biff
and one guy we call Sally!
(And one guy we call Sally!)

Men, men, men,
We're a ship all filled with men,
You'll never have to lift the seat,
there's no one here but men!

Men, men, men, men
Men, men, men, men...

We're men and friends until the end
and none of us are sissies,
At night we sleep in separate beds
and blow each other kissies!
(And blow each other kissies!)

Men, men, men,
we're a ship all filled with men,
So throw your rubbers overboard,
there's no one here but men!

Amen (pronounced "Ahhhhh, men!")

But Po', the original thread hasn't survived this long....it died long ago and has transformed into something else. We only retain the title as an expression of what we're about...joking and having fun. Besides, it offers us a place to act the fool without having to hijack another vessel (don't want the expense or responsibility of a larger fleet ).

Outgrow my Pirate-nese...heritage? Now how would I do that? I was born and bred in the heart of pirate country and its in my blood, literally. Several of my ancestors were pirates....in fact two of them actually served with Sir Francis Drake, who was no more than a glorified pirate for Elizabeth 1.

As fer settin' fire to this 'ere vessel, I wouldn't do that if I were you! We got a couple of ton o' gunpowder below desks, not to mention the cannon balls and paint bombs. That'd make a fine ol' mess o' things around this ol' port 'ere, now wouldn't it.

Glad to 'ear you're givin' yer internal organs some respite! As fer who to swab the decks, well I reckon we shanghai despicable politicians fer that task, pumpin' the bilge by straw as well....we just get the wenches to crack the whips so's to get their first day's honest work out o' the bastards.

Generally speaking, there's no way on earth a politician would or could do an honest days work, it'd be akin to a snowball surviving in hell....but I've seen some of those new wenches Gid brought aboard recently, and bein' a couple of 'em are built like brick outhouses, no pollie'd have the balls to refuse doing the work asked of 'em.

Shoot, one of them gals is so big 'n mean lookin' she'd put the fear of serious defeat into the WWF super heavyweight champ. Put it this way, I wouldn't wanna be in the shoes of the crew member who proffers unwelcomed advances in her direction....or the one who rejected hers.
