Anyone Know Why This Is Happening?

StartMenu Ghost

Thursday, June 29, 2006 by WebGizmos | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

This is happening whenever I restart my pc and click the start menu to open anything. I have to refresh my desktop to get rid of it. Any ideas as to why its doing this? It does this no matter what skin I'm using.

I had almost the same problem...do you use Windox FX???? Uninstall WindowFX.....Reinstall WindowFX.... after reinstalling WindowFX use the config tool and make sure it doesn't use any effect offert by WindowFX....close the program....open the program...use the config wizard to at your wished effects.....in my case this was the solution.....

I had it with particular WBs (not all) until the last ATI driver update-- worth a try if you aren't up to date (even if not ATI)

I'm having a problem with the same result. In another thread Niel indicated it might be related to Intel video. Dunno if that's what you have. If so, he's aware. If not, I'd create a case at stardock.helpserve.com.

Maybe it has to do with Icon X.

If you have the 91 series NVidia drivers installed, roll* them back to 84.21.

*You must do an un-install and re-install of the drivers. ftp://download1.nvidia.com/Windows/84.21/

I believe it's the Intel onboard that is the problem......Web doesn't have that.

He does have the computer from hell though.....

If you want to give it a go Steve, NVidia replaced their newest driver already and it might fix your problem. With your luck the chances are remote, but what the hell.

ftp://download1.nvidia.com/Windows/91.33/

Utilize the new control panel to fine tune your graphics.

It just dawned on me that I've seen this before.....do you have something in the Startup apps that has a splash screen that you checked not to show?

As you can see by the original poster it's NOT skin related.

I've had the same thing happen even with skins that are normally fine,i run a shite 32mb intergrated graphics card by pro savage which uses nvidia drivers,i put it down to the graphic's card and sometimes when i change blinds without unloading it will do it,Question at what time did things go awry can you recall anything being installed,an update etc, next thing i'd check is for fragmentation of hdd as well as system clean up of cache and registry and a restart, failing that give me the comp and get yourself a new one ,i could do with a spare

OK...I just updated to the newest beta update of WindowBlinds and that seems to have fixed the problem. You have to have "Show pre-release versions" turned on.
