I think the acting is quite pathetic.
If you can cry, pout and stamp your foot in a hissy-fit long enough you will get a penalty.
I've seen better tantrums by rug-rats in a supermarket....

Re: 'I think the acting is quite pathetic' I totally agree but when the Martians land and they look at the history of football they wouldn't know the difference about fair and unfair play unless there was an asterix next to a certain team/player denoting that they won even though there acting was quite undistinguished

Oh yeah 'simulation' i.e.diving and acting is also punishable by a yellow card. Just ask those bribe taking so and sos at FIFA

I lost interest in football 30 years ago. The main reason being the the attitude of the players. In my day (sic), if someone took your legs out from under you, you bounced up and chased after the ball. There was no such thing as a foul (unless you went boot to shin) or rolling over like a sissy, you just got on with it. Modern footballers are pathetic whingers; what used to be a good sport has been ruined by their dramatism.
Never mind the Oscar, just kick the ****ing ball and get on with it...

Exactly, get on with the game at hand....Hollywood isn't interested in the little cameo roles, nor are the fans.
I lost interest in soccer for the very same reason....too many highly paid 'nancy boys' who cry when they break a nail, even. Heaven forbid they actually get hurt.
That's why I turned to Rugby League, but even then the powers that be are trying to turn that, a real mans game into a big girl's blouse affair, much to the disgust of fans and players alike.

Personally, I can't wait until they bring in the video ref, it's the only way that the game of football will be made honest again. The level of cheating and play-acting is just sickening.
(I also watched the Japan Vs. Brazil game, and the Japanese were a breath of fresh air when it came to clean play and honesty, the other countries should learn a lesson from them).
Advance Australia fair should be changed to Advance Australia superb!
Good luck to them..... they have my support now.

I draw your atention to the word aki=alike=similar not the same That US guy ended up with 3 stiches in his face. The guy who did it apologised to him afterwards. He also apologised to his teammates, his country and his coach. FIFA are considering even greater action against him. He was quoted as saying afterwards 'it was a d***head of a thing to do'
2) trying to cut some one down by flying in on their ankle is a straight red - that's the law
FIFA have strongly stipulated that 2 foot lunges are totally not on regardless of intent Go in first and worry about the consequences later is NOT Ok. I supposed the worst outcome of that tackle was the other guy may never play football/be allowed to continue his career is lost on some of us
3) 2 yellows = 1 red - that's the law.
There is no relevance whatsoever whether the guy touched him or not, he got a yellow and two of those=red. Since when have the refs ever changed their mind in ANY sport.
If you don't like those rules write to FIFA.
As far as taking a ride to the sideline goes this is to prevent players from wasting time and nothing else. As soon as they are off the field they then realise their team are one man down and get up and play. Less and less players are getting away with it now. it's therefore a good thing that players are taken off the pitch.
As far as refs playing the game for themselves goes I agree but when was life ever played out in an Utopian society?
There are plenty of cases where the refs have just plain and simply got it wrong. '66 World Cup Final. '86 the hand of God, France over the w/end which could cost them a place in the second round and the list goes on and on and on...
USA done good, that's what counts.
