it was two types of links for 32-bit and 64-bit...what's the difference and how do know which ones run for my computer?

64-bit windows are for 64bit processors (AMD Athlon 64)
32-bit windows are for 32bit processors. (Not Athlon 64)

It's beta software at the moment. It will stop working once Vista ships.
Have anyone been able to download? All day long I've gotten a message saying: "We are currently experiencing a high level of demand and cannot process your request at this time.
Please check back later for availability. We apologize for any inconvenience."

Didn't help that it was posted on Slashdot either... But it's allright anyways. I gotto reformat my harddrive and set it all up for dualboot.

The Vista beta expires on 1 July 06, not when Vista ships.
I'm in no rush to download it. For starters, it said that you won't be able to install the final version as an upgrade to Beta 2, and even more importantly, my XP is nice and stable and I see little need to throw all that away just to be the first kid on the block with the new toy.

Please do as the instructions say and don't install on your only machine or in a mission critical situation. It isn't likely to be anywhere near as stable as your XP installation.
I for one will be installing it on a spare machine i have. You do know that hardly any 3D games will run on this release of Vista. Apparently something to do with the OpenGL release.

thomassen...you will need a separate hard-drive, not partitions, to dual boot any Windows OS successfully. A how to can be found by doing a search on the MS site (can't enter right now to provide link), but Windows does not like being on the same disk as another OS, and you must install previous editions prior to newer ones.

starkers: yup! I know. I've done it before, but thanks anyway. 
The reason I reformat now is that I've had the system for 3 years now and I'd like to do a clean start. Gonna install XP first and then leave a partition to test Vista on.

I was going to reformat in a week or so, so I think I'll reformat, install Vista, play around with it, reformat again with XP and be on my merry way.
Too bad I keep getting the 'high demand' message.

thomassen...you will need to intall the Vista beta first, according to MS, then your copy of XP.
What I'm going to do is 'ghost' my XP to another 'SATA' drive, then disable it in device manager, reboot and install the vista beta on my C:// drive, then re-enable my SATA drive with XP on it....viola, a triple boot Vista/XP Pro/XP Home (my gaming OS).
Well I got the email from MS with my product code, D/L link, etc, now it's just a matter of being able to access the link without getting the 'high demand' message.
I read 1 July 2007, but in the meantime we'd also get the release candidate (RC1) a little later this year. Okay, so Vista beta testers won't get the full version free, or even at a reduced price (as far as I know), but that doesn't matter to me. I'll have a bit of a head start for when it is officially released at full purchase price, no complaint here.

hm... Reading from this thread http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=102000&SiteID=1 everyone installs XP first. And that's how things has worked before as well. Oldest OS first.
