27/7? I knew things were a bit different down there in 'Oz,' but I didn't know you had 3 extra hours in a day.

Bugger...a typo, and I missed it! An extra 3hrs a day would be great, don'tcha think, more time on WC...pity a typo can't be converted to reality.

Microsoft does not recommend this - although it may work initially - two OSes on the same physical drive, different partitions can cause conflicts/instability

The Vista beta stops june 1st of 07 rather than july 1st of 07 or the public release, and you should be able to use the 64 bit or the 32 bit version with the AMD64 proc...Though there is less driver support for the 64 bit. If you have a 32 bit CPU, then you will only be able to use the 32 bit Vista version. Of course many a smarter man before me have been wrong and I am in no way immune to falicy. Did I spell all that write?

Has anyone been able to download it? I've been getting the 'high demand, go away' error all day.

Anyone like to send me it on DVD?

My dl speed and the Beta would expire before it finished downloading...

According to the email I got from MS with d/l link and product code, yes it can be ordered from Oz....

In fact, my d/l began, but IE encountered a problem (damned Adobe Reader plugin), had to close, and upon returning to the link, I kept getting an 'access denied' page. Can't email MS directly about it so I rang MS in Oz to find out why, etc....

The support guy said that I'm eligible, my link and key were/are valid, that it's most likely due to a server error/overload at the MS home site and to try again later. However, I'm wondering if the interrupted d/l, IE crash, may have resulted in invalidating my link somehow? Wouldn't think so, though.

Hope not, but the guy at MS (Oz) said that I could re-apply if there were to be the case.

Love new toys...hate it when I can't get at 'em

Right! Downloading the beta now. TRying to download via MS's downloader gives me a message that's the server is too busy, but downloading the other link works perfect. 800K/s!
But I was wondering is there's any CRC checksums for the download so I can make sure it's not corrupted when it's done. Anyone?

Right! Got it now. One of the fastest downloads I've ever done. 3GB in a couple of hours. But I want to make sure it's allright before I try to install it. Still looking for a md5 or crc value. Can anyone here who has downlaoded it (32bit english) post the crc or md5 checksum of their iso image?

Found this at iexbeta http://board.iexbeta.com/index.php?showtopic=23258
Build 5384 (MSDN/Connect/WinHEC original, staged Workstation distribution): *NEW*
- File Size = 3.12 GB (3,355,598,848 bytes) *NEW*
- CRC Value = 0x67E089E0 *NEW*
- MD5 Value = 0E733AB1A8E8FF9A8684FD3639332773 *NEW*

That matched my download.

Okay, I've found that using Firefox doesn't work when downloading this. I keep getting the 'high demand, go away' message. When going to the same link in IE, it brings be to a page where I can choose to use their download manager, which gives me the above message. If I try to download the ISO with out their manager, it works. So in 2 hours and 48 minutes, my Vista cherry will be popped.

Adam: hit Ctrl+F5 to force refresh the page. Same thing happend to me but it was because the page was cached. After I did that I got the page where I could download, but the link to download via the MS d/l manager still brought that busy page.

And I'd recommend everyone to do a CRC or md5 checksum as such large downloads can easily get errors on them.

btw, here's a free AV app for Vista. I'll install it after I finally get the OS installed.

I came across an article about the high amount of downloads of Vista. Apparently MS is afraid that if they increase their bandwidth they'll 'break the internet'. http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/viewstory.php?t=77525
