...If I clean out my cookies, temp files and history, close/reopen IE, I can get the d/l to begin, but before it actually starts saving to disk I get an error message saying that documents & settings either does not recognise the file format or it is corrupt.
Finally found a way to contact MS by email, however, just waiting on their reply ...hopefully it helps resolve the issue. Thing is, I imagine they're inundated with enquiries and quite busy, so I'm not expecting it anytime (real) soon.
Sort of wondering if there's some sort of conflict on my main OS (XP Pro), and whether or not booting into my games OS (XP Home) could/would fix my dilemma? Also thought it might be caused by winRAR (file starts to save as a zip) and it cannot manage a file that large? Ideas anyone? I mean, it would be sad, tragic even, if Vista SP2 comes out before I get this figured

I didn't think that it mattered if a file was recognizablle or not to download, but give it a shot I suppose.

Can anybody advise me on this?
Have tried booting from disk and also installing while already booted up.
Both times I can't get any further than 10%
Bit gutted really, am trying another download, this time using their download managerReply #46 Friday, June 9, 2006 11:50 PM

It still needs a lot of optimization, but most of the old contols seem to be there, with quite a few bells and whistles besides.
Assuming MS optimizes it well in RC1 and final, it should be quite nice once you get used to how it presents everything. There is certainly a lot of "WinFX" effects in all normal operations.
At least I found how to disable the "User Account Control". It was driving me bonkers!
(Hint - Accessories > run > secpol.msc > Local Policies > Security Settings > User Account Control:...).

| Well, when I downloaded it with out any download manager, it saves as an ISO. I downloaded ISObuster, so ISO files are now recognized on my computer. Maybe you should download an ISO-opening program and retry the download. |
I have ISO buster and a ISO plugin for Nero, so I don't think it's that...I had WinRAR installed, and every time the d/l failed I got two messages, a Windows one saying docs & settings could not handle the file, and the other from winRAR saying the file was either corrupt or too big for the archive....
I've since uninstalled winRaR in the hope it would resolve the issue, but now I'm getting the too busy page on both d/l links and can't say whether or not it has. I certainly hope so, though

It will generally be a little sluggish as MS hasn't yet fully got around to optimize Vista for speed. And most things also is compiled in debug mode so that adds extra sluggishness as well.

Oh well, I've got it now, it checks out a-okay, so I'll burn it to disk shortly and install it on a partition I've prepared on another drive.

Unfortunately, I saw in other posts with that same error code (which I am sure you have already googled) that the only fix was a redownload and burn on slowest speed.
You might give it a go.
