Standardizing WinCustomize Forums

Beta testing forums.wincustomize.com

Tuesday, May 16, 2006 by T-Man | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

We are working standardizing WinCustomize's forums.  What I mean by that is that with all the Stardock websites we are working on one code base that will run all our forums.  Several of our sites (forums.galciv2.com, forums.stardock.com, forums.societygame.com, etc) already use the same forum code.  But current WinCustomize has it's own custom flavor.  So we are getting close to completing this transormation over at https://forums.wincustomize.com/ . If you feel like beta testing it for us then please start having a look around and let us know of any bugs or missing features or inconsistencies it has compared to the current forums.

Please do not turn this into a wish list, that will come later.  After we get the current forums converted over we are going to look into revamping the forums to have a more similar look to all the generic forums out on the web.

Issues:

  • CreatePost failed with an error. but it actually submitted
  • Recent Forum Activity box in left bar does not refresh often enough (Changed to 4 minutes from 10)
  • Text Editor is not wide enough in edit comment page
  • Edit Comment does not have its layout finished
  • Main listing is not refreshing.  Been over 10 minutes and the list is still show deleted cached articles.

It wasn't happening with Opera until now (I don't use FF or IE unless there's no other way)

Update Posted 9:17 AM EST.

FYI - We're working on drastically upgrading our text editor; both the WYSIWYG editor and the plain ol' textarea editor (for new posts and replying).
