Wednesday, April 19, 2006 by Suphix269 | Discussion: WindowBlinds

hey, i hope you can help me... been using windowblinds for ages, and not come across this before... the title says it all really...

everything else is being skinned apart from my start bar... i'm just guessing that it could be down to a shellstyle.dll, just not sure really...

thankyou if you can help.

Did you uninstall WB4.x before installing 5.0? This behavior has been described when 5.0 was installed on top of 4.x. Best bet is to first copy your skins folder somewhere, then uninstall WB completely via SDC. If a 4.x version is shown as installed, uninstall that, too. If you are using a standalone version, use the Add/Remove Programs applet, again for both versions if necessary.

Reboot to a clean XP or Classic desktop. Reinstall WB5, then be sure to reboot again before trying to apply a skin through WBConfig. Select & apply one of the default skins & see if the StartPanel & Taskbar are properly skinned. If so, copy your saved skins back to the working WindowBlinds folder & all should be well.

Also make sure you have not set an override in wbconfig to make the taskbar + startmenu a different skin.
