Where my darn toolbar background!

Why can't I skin it?

Tuesday, April 11, 2006 by patrick24 | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I have a nice toolbar bg for my next skin, but for some reason it won't show up!?! Take for example Noire. I like the image under the File Edit View Insert etc... at the top of the window. It works in that skin and I've seen it in others, why won't it work in mine? What am I missing? Please help. Thanks.

I can't edit my post above-- I meant are you referring to the Menus?

Oh, right, I mean menu bar background, sorry. In SkinStudio under controls > menus > bar background. I can't get it to show up when I apply the skin.

try opening Noire or one of the others in skin studio to see what they used and the settings

Make sure what you are looking at is a menubar.

'Menubars' in explorer are not menubars, they are toolbars and WB has a different section for menu style toolbars.  Notepad, taskmanager, calc all have standard menubars.

Neil may have it...

In SKS, under Toolbars, you'll find ToolbarBackground. This may be the "menubar" you are "missing".

No, it's not the toolbar background. It's the menubar background.

That is what I'm talking about. I've looked through the settings in Noire and looked through mine, but I'm still missing something. It's probably just some stupid setting I'm missing, I just haven't a clue what it is.

Looks like a classic color setting issue, but I'm no authority.

if you're using per-pixel alpha window frames then the option of a skinned toolbar isn't possible. in this case, the skin will use the classic color that you define for it.

Patrick, TRY what Neil posted above. It may not sound correct to you but I think he's right.

It seems that the skin is a per pixel one, in which case you cannot use an image for the menubar.

Crap.
I would rather have per-pixel borders and no menubar, then menubar and non-per-pixel borders.
Thanks anyways guys. I really appriciate your help.

Is the missing menubar background with per pixel borders enabled a bug? Does anyone know a solution to this or why it does it?

It is not a bug and never has been.

When on Vista it will be used, but when on XP the menubar background is not used.
