Nintendo Revolution updates from GDC '06

Here are some interesting updates about the Nintendo Revolution that I have been reading.
"In a recent conversation with Yahoo! Japan, Nintendo head Satoru Iwata confirmed that the Nintendo Revolution will be priced under $300 here in the U.S. meaning that it will be the cheapest console in the next-generation of hardware.
With plenty of speculation pointing to a potential price point of around $150 for the unit, it's not hard to imagine why Nintendo might choose this route. The Revolution's raison d'être is its new innovative controller system. While competitors Microsoft and Sony are taking its next-gen machines in a new, more technologically advanced direction, Nintendo is set firmly on innovation over cutting-edge hardware."

"During his keynote address at the 2006 Game Developer Conference in San Jose, Nintendo's Satoru Iwata announced that the Nintendo Revolution's promised back catalog of downloadable games will now include titles from the Sega Genesis and NEC's TurboGrafx-16, the North American version of the PC-Engine. This announcement potentially collects the entire 16-bit era of video gaming on one system, merging Nintendo's software with that of its former hardware manufacturer rivals. This backwards compatibility is an addition to the previously announced inclusion of the GameCube game catalog, as well as that of the N64, SNES/Super Famicom, and NES/Famicom."
