Lightsaber update

Tuesday, March 21, 2006 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Well I finally got most of the parts to begin building my first LED lightsaber.  I got the basic hilt pretty much done.  I still have some more cutting and some drilling/tapping of some screws.  I also have to customize the hilt with some parts and craft foam.

After an hour of soldering I got all the electronics done.  I did buy the wrong switch, but it still works with my design.

I put a 3W luxeon LED in the hilt.  It's very powerful and is very bright at night.  I still have some more work to do so I will keep the updates coming.

Great job, man. I've got one of the Master Replicas Darth Vader sabers. I see in your shots you have some Star Wars figs on the desk. You a full blown collector? I just got some pics of my collection up on Rebelscum.com. Again, great work. Looking forward to seeing the completed job!

Check out my collection! Link

Thanks dj. I started collecting in '95 when Kenner/Hasbro started releasing figures again. I have just about everything they've made since then... the only line I don't collect entirely is the 12" figures. I have about 40 of them in the bin under my fooseball table, but that's not even half of what they've made. As far as the 4" scale stuff, I'm only missing a few things. I don't have any of the original stuff (1977-1985), but they've remade everything from that line, and many, many more as you can see. I love Star Wars.

Awesome collection.  I don't collect a lot of things just because I don't have the room for it.  However I do like to "decorate" with some Star Wars things.

I was going to buy a MR lightsaber like you guys are talking about, but they are not good for dueling.  Also, those MR's are EL blades and LED is much brighter.  However, mine does not have the sound like those, but I can add it if I wanted.

That chair sucks.  I won't spend another dime on one of those chairs again.  It stays where it is until it competely falls apart.
