This has been going around a while. It is important to remember that spelling and punctuation, grammar, etc. ARE important. Without having learned these words, we wouldn't be able to recognize them in this mangled form.
Additionally, the "aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy" bit while seemingly adding weight of authority to the issue, is actually not quite accurate. (the grammatical error in "according to a research at..." aside)

Never got the hang of leet and stuff...too easily confused set in my ways of writing English the old Oxford way. It's a case of an old dog and new tricks for me....tho a few Americanisms have crept in since I started using the internet. Ha, that'll have my old English teacher rolling in her grave and looking for the cane to rap me across the knuckles

That' may be true in THIS case... but I've seen this done with many different phrases... many I've typed myself, and it's still easily read. Our mind does see the first and last letters as most important, but it also sees the rest of the letters. The fact that it doesn't need them in order doesn't mean that they don't need to be there, just that our mind is so amazing that it can reorder them for us easily. Now, I don't mean to start something here, but please tell me how our brain, or anything else in our body happened by accident? This is an amazing testament to God's ultimate creation... human.
