WB5 Minimize to tray and Firefox Problem

Saturday, February 11, 2006 by 9Iron | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I am glad to see that the minimize to tray option is now functional for alpha blended skins. Every program works just fine...except FireFox. IE7 Beta 2 and Opera 9 Beta minimize to the tray just fine, but FireFox won't. The icon will go the tray like it is supposed to, but the browser remains maximized. This only happens with alpha blended skins. I am not sure if it is a WB5 issue, or a FireFox issue, but I wanted to let you guys know either way.

I am using FireFox 1.5

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm guessing it's Firefox. Hasn't really worked the same since 1.5 - can't even highlight and quote in the forums anymore. Sometimes all the links like comment, more info, etc in the galleries drop down a notch when you click them - kinda like the page wasn't fully expanded or something.

I've got a different thing with Firefox. Sometime in the last couple of days, since I downloaded the latest WindowFX, when I bring up Firefox the title bar is skinned with Windows Classic. It started out white or grayish, now it comes up Classic only colored black. Using Stealth OS, WB5. If I click on the maximize button twice it cycles through two versions ubtil the proper title bar skin shows up. Not a big problem, just kind of weird.

By latest WindowFX, do you mean WindowFX 2.89 beta?

FireFox does some weird stuff with its window. For example, I have a sound set to play when I minimize a window. FireFox does not play the sound--it minimizes in a way that does not trigger the Minimize System Event. FireFox has also had some strange interaction with ObjectDock and showing, or not showing, thumbs of minimized windows.

I bet the issue lies with FireFox.

I have not tried this extension, but maybe you'll find it useful:

RabidRobot...FFox has had a issue with ODock thumbnails for a while...they don't show if you minimize from FFox...but do if you minimize via ODock...has that changed?  (not at home can't check)

I am using WindowFX 2.89 beta. After a couple of days of classic title bars and and one occurrence of the title bar completely dissappearing after minumizing FF to the task bar the problem cleared up. I updated Flashgot, Clusty, and Stumble Upon yesterday and later in the day I removed the shortcut overlay on my desktop icons through Icon Packager. I mention these because they are the only things I changed. The problem went away after removing the shortcut overlay. Don't know if the two are conected but that's the time frame. Cosmic rays maybe?

I am having the same problem with Firefox 1.5.4. Click on the minimize button in the titlebar and it stays maximized. Since I do that frequently its quite annoying. The solution for the moment is to rightclick and get the menu, choosing minimized from there works fine.

I see more general problem, related to this. Option to minimize(send) to tray with double click for example from user overrides/advanced settings does not work at all not only with Firefox, but with the all windows in alpha blended skins.
