Hello Frankief. . . Such a wonderful picture; and filled with lots of memorable moments for me. I was born and raised on the beautiful Rappahannock River and the Chesapeake Bay. During my youth, my sister, brother, and I spent our days catching crabs with our hands, oystering, and occasionally a few fish would wander into the cove in front of our house. Just looking at that bushel of blue crabs triggered my appetite for about a dozen of these beauties. There was nothing more fun or entertaining than sitting at a large picnic table with a dozen other people, and breaking apart the crabs, and savorying every morsel--including any stray parts. Richmond was my home from 1959 to 1996. In 1991, I met a delightful gentleman who was born in Venice, Italy. After graduating from the London University with a degree in engineering, he headed for Canada. Although he spent the first year in Montreal, he soon discovered a job and home in Ottawa, Ontario. He truly loved this city so much; and so he declared it his permanent residence. When we married in September 1993, we both agreed that Ottawa would be our retirement home. Quite honestly, I never felt like I had ever departed from Richmond. The population is the same, the layout of the city, as well as the fact that we have the largest outdoor skating rink in the world--The Rideau Canal. This gorgeous canal surrounds Ottawa; and regardless of the time of the year, there are always numerous activities taking place on this marvelous body of water. During the winter months, people skate to work. All along the way, there are little kiosk which offer hot chocolate, coffee, Bear Claws, etc. The colder the temperature, the more activity on the canal. We are also home to the world's greatest Ice Sculpturing Event. Annually, people come from all over the world to display their magnificent carving talents, as well as the breathtaking sculptures they have created. All of these displays are outstanding--even during the daylight hours. But when sundown arrives, these creations come to life when they are all aglow with numerous lights. Thank you, Sweetie, for sharing this lovely picture with all of us. Would you happen to have a photo of the lovely Queen Annabella--Richmond's Riverboat. I was so happy when they added this magnificent touch to our venue in the 70's. I loved our beautiful historical city of Richmond; however, when the 70's arrived, the newer generation wanted to turn everything into the modern world. The changes accompanying this modernernization of Richmond and its surrounding areas, made me quite sad--even to this day. Once again, Frankief, thank you for sharing all your lovely creations with all of us. You have been included on my "favorite list" as you always have something beautiful and unusual to offer. Frankie, Your creations are wonderfully made however, when made thru life's experiences they become blessings to others,,,,,living thru your blessings are now mine and I can't thank you enough !! I cannot rate this particular creation for blessings have no rating,,,,xoxox Elizabeth p.s. crabs are one of my favorites and as I read your story, I thought of my grandfather catching crabs for me in Salinas, Puerto Rico
