these are really nice.... there has been a distinct lack of quality icons in the last few weeks and these have definitely raised the standard a lot. look forward to more like this...

If you are using Adobe Photoshop I can give you a basic idea. Basicaly it is nothing more than a bevel effect and a gradient overlay. Then I add the drop shadow by hand, meaning not through layer effects. The text part is easy now that in Adobe CS you can write text on a path. So I just draw the path I want my text on an there you go instant Icon. Of course there was some drawing and shaping in the feathers but I can't really explain how to do that. And the flower was nothing more than vector graphic provided in Illustrator. Yeah I wasnt very creative with that one but I thought it fit so I used it. Then I just took it into Photoshop and changed the color and added the drop shadow and I was done. Hope that gives you some idea. I am not exactly sure how you would do that in any other graphics editor. Anyway I have now exposed all my secrets...lol

Well I think I can translate those into fireworks but my question is about the feathers did you make those by subtracting the openings or by making it with the openings. What I mkean is did you take a 0 for example and cut off the top to make a U or did you start with the U. Do you get my drift? Anyways thanks I love them.

I subtracted. I made the basic shape and then cut out the openings. Remember work smarter not harder.
