It's a lot easier to point you to a tutorial than try and explain it... Here's several tutorials on creating the brushed metal look...3 of them are in Photoshop and 1 in Gimp.

Great docks, absolutely lovin them. However, there is one problem. When I mouse over the icons in my dock, the words are hidden by the dock itself. I have my dock docked to the bottom of the screen, if that's of any relevance. Any ideas?

I've had that happen occasionally after playing a game...its not related to the dock itself. I've found that unloading objectdock and reloading fixed the problem.
